Unmitigated disaster and the park / corporate has lost all hope in it. Internally they're pretty much banking on the ride not being ready for Opening Day 2025. It's what motivated corporate to pull the plug on Ka because they didn't want to deal with the operating costs and didn't want to risk another refurbishment / retrofit disaster happening.
So you’re saying there’s a decent chance the ride never reopens

"I don't eat seafood. I went to a long john silvers once and it was really bad"
I think it’s more the fact that it’s the EXACT SAME type of conversion DIRECTLY AFTER it went bust. Not trying to say closing ka was a good move, but I don’t think we should act like having that fear is 100% irrational

^ I think the implication is that there are/were other options for the Kingda Ka seafood feast, as there were for Dragster's. Joe's crab shack might have been able to fix them up something tastier that (presumably) also wouldn't immediately fuck their entire gastrointestinal system up for a year and counting. Yeah, I wouldn't be going back to that place, either. Not even for a cup of iced water.

If it does open it's not going to be reliable.
Idk why but I have a gut feeling, that if it is indeed the Mack launched spinning tower coaster coming to sfgadv, cedar point management will be paying VERY close attention to how it does.
I have a gut feeling dragster could come down.

So thats how much CF doesn't want to work with Intamin if they would rather just get rid of KK completely?

Unsure about that. I think it's more that they had such a bad experience with Zamperla that they don't even want to chance it failing again with a different manufacturer of any quality.

I mean I get it. Especially in ka’s case of “hey yknow how tt2 flopped? Let’s do that on something even bigger!” I don’t have to LIKE it, or think it’s fully rational, but I get their line of thinking

Definitely not what I wanted to hear. I was able to delay my trip for one whole year to avoid the TT2 closure. I’m going to be seriously upset if this isn’t ironed out by June.

And it’s also hilarious, I had a thought last summer that if TT2 wasn’t open, perhaps I would go to Great Adventure to ride Ka in 2025. True story. So sorry that I cursed both rides for you all

I can see the 2025 press release now.

Cedar point once again makes coaster history and sets a record. We are pleased to announce that Top Thrill 2 has set the record for shortest operating coaster at 8 days and will now gracefully retire.

How much testing are they gonna have to do before opening it to the public? Surely as long as it was open before to see if any cracks appear again

After Kingda Ka, I’m starting to wonder: if it continues to have issues and the cost overruns, does top thrill 2 never run again?

This is all a ruse to justify the costs. Now TT2 will be the tallest coaster in NA. That's worth spending the money for the Top 3 conversion.

Yep. Sounds like they’re working on replacement seating for the trains
I'm curious how this fixes the breaking wheel bogeys issue....

Only thing I can think is the seats are lower so that there isn't such a big difference in the heartline from the original. I don't know that's the case, I am just trying to understand how replacing the seats could help.
