My school is local - ish to Cedar Point. I'm one of the lucky ones who's wedged in between Cedar Point and Kings Island. I think my teacher is having me wait until she announces the project that this fits under, but even still, I agree that this seems weird.

I want you all to hear this for the hilarity of it:
A few weeks ago, my journalism teacher recommended for me to get an audio reaction on Top Thrill 2. When I told her that it would be illegal to do this without a gopro system (which I don't have and won't be purchasing for this project; they'll have a POV up by the time we're up there) and express written consent from Cedar Point, she said the following: "Just record it with your phone in your pocket!"
For those who needed a laugh today, here you go.

20 inch wheels, I wonder if the holes drilled in them will affect the acoustics of the ride? The machining costs of these wheels got to be insane.
Milled aluminum chassis. Off hand, does anyone know if there are any aluminum chassis roller coasters in operation?

They won't schedule all of that until the ride is ready to open.

Just make sure to open a dialogue with Cedar Point's PR department well, well ahead of that point.

My journalism teacher wants to get this ball rolling no sooner than mid - January. Would you say that's a good time, too soon, or too late? Sorry, I've never done a media day before, so I'm new to this whole process.

If you do it mid-January it's probably okay. Sooner is almost always better though—especially because there could be opportunities available pre-debut.

Also, I don't know the setup at your school, but try to reach out with an email account dedicated to the outlet you're representing (in your case, your student newspaper). If your school is near Cedar Point, the journalism department should definitely have a relationship with Cedar Point—and it should be setup to outlast you.
