Black and blue trains (with backings back on it seems) were testing this morning and now silver is on the maintenance track. Hopefully they fixed whatever was going on with blue train and now are working on silver…
... the blame still falls on Zamperla/Cedar Point/Cedar Fair/New Six Flags.
I feel like I've made a comparison like this before, but I still think it's correct. It's hard to know who to blame more, Cedar Point et al. for doing the equivalent of putting a 15 year old in charge of driving his school bus or the 15 year old for crashing his school bus. They both deserve some blame because everyone involved should have known that the 15 year old SHOULD NOT have been driving any school bus, let alone an old, complicated, manual transmission one full of his classmates. You can't entirely blame the 15 year old though because the 15 year old was sincerely trying their best and did (no matter how foolishly) really believe they could successfully drive the school bus. You can't entirely blame Cedar Fair either though because, though it was clearlyprofoundly stupid to trust a 15 year old to drive a school bus, Cedar Fair thought the other school bus driver that was conveniently available was super annoying to work with/generally unreliable and this 15 year old did insist over and over and over again that, not only could he drive a school bus, but he was really good at it and the only issue preventing him from being a world class school bus driver was that his parents weren't letting him drive the family minivan.
So yeah, shared blame, but everyone involved here obviously made just an enormous, completely unforced mistake that has killed at least one of America's strata coasters so far. People should be livid with Zamperla, but we should also be livid with Cedar Point & Friends. Even if the coaster comes back up tomorrow and runs flawlessly for the rest of the season (it will not), just based on what happened last year, this entire project has been an enormous, easily foreseeable fuck-up for all involved.
I'd be curious to know more about why it is down. Did something break? Did an incident occur yesterday? Did they wake up this morning witb a fault on the screen appeared and they can't clear it? It may or may not be manufacturer related, we just dont know. I dont know if I would go so far as to what Zachary is saying, but CP is about to get a free ride if they can't get it running soon... But that doesnt mean we need to grab the pitchforks yet
Allegedly work being done on the spike. Can’t imagine that’s related to the issues the trains have had within the past week or so.
I really want to root for this project. It’s a prototype of a prototype so obviously it wasn’t gonna be smooth sailing even after last year’s issues were resolved, but it isn’t a good look to have a new issue pop up seemingly every other week.
Actually now I'm hearing a rumor that an electrical capacitor on the launch system went boom. So it may not be as bad as we thought, just absolutely horrific timing
I think the one thing that I love about this is how traumatized the coaster community was from last years incident. That any downtime for this ride immediately goes to, “ah fuck it’s closed all year”.
To be clear I, personally, am not the least bit traumatized. I was never a fan of TTD (I thought it was boring). I am just entertained by the sheer absurdity.
Obviously, if they can’t get this fixed it would be a huge loss for the residents of Ohio. I know of a “Multi-World-Record-Breaking Launch Coaster,” which could still be redirected from a far less important park in New Jersey to help CP guests with their grief.
