the log flume encompasses about 3 acres of land, bordered by the machine shop on one side and WWC on the other. It would be the worlds shortest, smallest, most boring B&M ever. Just saying.

If the park wanted to add a coaster to that side of the park, they would have tons more room to work with by placing it in Hurler's location, between Dinosaurs Alive and the Kings Dominion Theater, or behind White Water Canyon and the Theater. There's so much room back there. That rumor is silly.

Latest rumor I just read (not saying I believe it) has a coaster, possibly a B&M Launched Flyer, being planned to replace the Shenandoah Lumber Company Log Flume.

Just want to put out there that a bunch of industry people that were attending the Golden Ticket Awards at Cedar Point over the weekend BUSTED OUT LAUGHING at that rumor.

There seems to be a perpetual rumor that KD is getting a hyper/giga/strata suspended Launched - Flyer - wing rider - dive - airtime - invert RMC - B&M

I suspect most of this rumor is not true.
My sources say it will be subterranean and run from the log flume to the concert venue and back again. Seems as plausible as other theories that have been posted here.

I find it weird that they still have the huge funnel waterpark thingy in the middle of the park.  I'd love to see that whole area relocated over to the actual water park (Soak City) and have a nice attraction in the middle of the park where that eyesore is now located.  It also seems to me that anything they were to do in the Old Virginia section would require removing a lot of the trees, which would absolutely kill the feeling of that entire area.  And I really doubt the log flume will be going anywhere.

Actually, it will be a kiddie coaster simply named, "Flying Coaster" Old Virginia shall be an new extension to Planet Snoopy. Action Theater is now an indoor ball pit for kids, Log Flume is staying, just renamed, "Wet Dog". White Water Canyon will be drained of water and its course will be used for track events to raise money for further Snoopy Expansion. What will happen to Grizzly? You decide
It would make a good jungle gym.

RMC construction vehicles have been spotted at Cedar Point! So is this confirmation that Mean Streak is getting the RMC treatment? Is Cedar Fair trying to keep this secret? So what does this mean for KD and Hurler?

2019 at the earliest. Given CF's cycle of only one coaster in the chain per year keeps up.

  • 2017: Mystic Timbers
  • 2018: RMC Mean Streak
  • 2019: ______________

And given their track record...again, Carowinds, Or Kings Island will probably get the 2019 bid. Not saying all hope is lost...just most.

I wonder if getting RMC to work on Mean Streak would count as CF's big coaster project for the year? It certainly creates a new totally new ride experience, but RMC upgrades generally cost far less than a new coaster built from scratch.

Maybe CF could do what Six Flags did in 2015 and have RMC work on multiple wooden coaster conversion. Based on the estimated prices of Six Flags' projects, CF could give the RMC treatment to at least two existing wooden coasters at around the same cost of one major new steel coaster.

I have heard that the pricing RMC gave 6F was more or less at cost or very close. Basically to get their product on the market. My understanding is that that kind of pricing is not typical.

That being said, an RMC conversion really still is not the same thing as building a Fury. This is ONLY my opinion, if they are not going to build a full size coaster somewhere one year and elect to RMC, I would think they would do at least two. Hurler is a perfect option for this.

All word hints aside, it is actually fairly logical even considering KDs place in the CF world. Frankly this really would the the LEAST they could do in terms of a "new coaster."

Very true. Kings Dominion could act as a "test market" much like the TrioTech rides that seem to never have taken off within the chain.

It's win-win. Cedar Fair doesn't have to fully invest into a "second tier" park, and they get a test market.

...does any of that make sense?

Yes it does. They would build a highest/ fastest/ loopiest/ invertiest up north and a more "typical" upgrade as a test here. We certainly would not overshadow Mean Streak it is, after all it is at the "Mother Ship."
