Moonmaxx has announced that they have hired “The International Singers” and “The International Dancers” for the Grand Carnivale. My guess is that these hires are for the dance party that is supposed to happen after the parade ends each night. Not sure if these are two different shows or just two parts of one show. Time will tell!

Keep in mind, the park (not Moonmaxx) has also hired characters for this event. The only known character is the King of Carnivale, which is basically a Mardi Gras Overlord from the looks of it. I could be wrong, but my assumption is that when these characters are not in the Spectacle of Color Parade, they will be roaming the midways similar to Midway Merriment at WinterFest. Hopefully I can get pictures with them all... I somehow was lucky enough to get pictures with all the Merriment characters!

According to a passholder email about Pass Perks and the Grand Carnivale,

As the winner of the VIP [Grand Carnivale] Experience Package, you will be treated with FREE food sampling cards, an array of fantastic merchandise plus an exclusive opportunity to be a part of the Grand Carnivale Parade!

Also do not want.
The 4th wall exists for your protection and mind. The performers are here to entertain us. Until such time as BGW pays guests to be part of the entertainment or worse entertain the actors, they should leave the guests alone.

/me is backstage talent not on stage (or float for that matter) talent.

Hopefully it's something as simple as "press some buttons to make special effects go off on the floats," but since this sounds like it's going to be a one-time thing, it's probably going to be bigger and more noticeable. We'll just have to wait and see.

From the Volcano Replacement Post:

In the middle of the chaos in this thread, I wanted to provide an update on the new-ish site plan @mdb07 pointed out the other day. According to Hanover County, the filing is for a new backstage area to house parade floats.

In other words, absolutely nothing useful for his conversation unfortunately. ?

I purposely moved it because I didn’t want this getting lost in the Volcano talk. Do you happen to know where exactly in the park this is going to be?

My gut wants to say somewhere in that backstage area between Twisted Timbers, Apple Zapple, and Big Wave Bay, but I only say that because that’s where I believe the parade is supposed to start.

Yes, this is part of the Lumina show the park is doing this summer! As for the Grand Carnivale, there’s supposed to be a light show that will make the Eiffel Tower have exclusive patterns to the event!

What I’m most excited for is how they’ll light it up during Haunt... they could do some super cool stuff with it then!

Yes there couild be some really cool lighting effects. But on the downside if they use them too much it wont seem special to any event. Last night they had the colored christmas lights that outline the roof of the Ice Cream shop and the Old Time Photo on. They looked good with all the others colors but if you see them all season they wont give the wow factor at the holidays.

It seems that the park is searching to hire two actors to play an Indian Prince and Princess for the Grand Carnivale! Feel free to share this, I’m sure these positions need to be filled immediately.

...so a Disney's Aladdin rip-off? Got to say the timing with regards to the new live-action version coming out is interesting. Unless they were going for Native American?

I understand the confusion, but they’re definitely NOT looking for people to play Native American characters, as India is one of the five countries being showcased. Also, Aladdin is based on a fictional Middle-Eastern country, so not a rip-off at all... and a little farther left on a world map. Ironically, there was a controversy when they hired Indian actors to play Aladdin and Jasmine, but people got over it pretty quickly.

The park’s been hiring for this event since March. I would think that these characters have always been in the original plans for the event, but it’s hard to know for sure since there’s not much information out there at all for the event yet chain-wide.

The actor who plays Aladdin is actually Egyptian. The actress who plays Jasmine is of Indian descent though.

While I don't think that they are trying to capitalize off of Aladdin I do want to point out that Disney announced Aladdin approximately 2 years ago. Far enough in advance for CF to be able capitalize on it's popularity.

Oh! Thanks for the clarification! I’ll be interested to see if any similarities happen (I’m sure there will be), but I’m still not sure how much CF was thinking about Aladdin when planning this event.

I guess as a layperson the idea of a prince/princess combo from that area of the world in a parade screams Aladdin rip-off. Also the last-minute hiring indicates to me this is totally related in some way.

If only KD had a flying carpet ride... But in the end, hopefully the concept they're working with warrants a new recurring summer event.

I could see that. I can’t imagine how many times I see comparisons of things in pop culture and the original creators swear they never used it as source material... haha!

As for the last minute hiring, it could be a number of factors. Parks do last minute hiring for stuff all the time for varying reasons. KD’s Haunt is a good example of that because in the last few years, the park has added monster audition dates in response to how many spots they still need to fill. Maybe the park is being very picky about hiring for this event and they want to hire the right people? Maybe it was a last minute addition in response to the current popularity of something in pop culture? Like I said earlier, it’s hard to tell because CF has been so quiet regarding details for the event, but either way, the event starts really soon, and I’m super pumped for it to begin!

I’m confused. India and a fictional Arabian country are different cultures, ethnicities, and geographies. How do we arrive at the conclusion that they’re somehow related??

If you're going off of the original story, apparently that was actually based in Asia (according to Google it was the only non-Arabic story in the Arabian Nights stories, written by some French dude... Guess that helps explain why Disney picked it up since their stories seem to primarily be European in origin), the animated movies (with the only true genie, Robin Williams) in Arabia...

But again, based on the trailers for the live action version it appears super Bollywood in some parts so that's where the line is getting blurred. And given that the new version is being promoted around the same time as this new KD event, at least in my mind is where there's an intentional parallel.

But, what do I know - this isn't guaranteed to have anything to do with the movies or even resemble anything remotely similar. Again, here's to hoping it'll be good enough for a repeat season.
