Here's the story regarding the name of the City in the 1992 Aladdin (and carried forward to the current live action)

During the interview, Co-Director Musker said that the movie’s composers, Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, had originally decided Aladdin would be set in Baghdad, Iraq, but they were forced to change that.

We kept it Baghdad in our first treatment, and then the Gulf War happened — the first Gulf War. Roy Disney said, 'This can't be in Baghdad.' So, I took letters and did a jumbled anagram and came up with Agrabah,” Musker told E! News.

Even though none of this relates to the thread.. Here's the whole article.

Again, here's to hoping it'll be good enough for a repeat season.

According to the park, the Grand Carnivale will be a new yearly event. I’m sure they’ll add more countries next season. I would love to see an African country and a South American country be represented in 2020!

Also, I have a request. Will a moderator be able to change the title of this thread to “Grand Carnivale” with the 2019 tab as the other special events have? I love consistency! Oh, and is there a way to move it to the Special Events section?

Good point, but was thinking the park or CF may pull the plug if it doesn't contribute anything to guest satisfaction or otherwise.

As far as relabeling and/or moving threads, I think the moderators do that once the attraction/event/facility is officially open?

Kings Dominion has officially lifted the embargo on details for the Grand Carnivale! Read more about this BRAND NEW event below! The link will be at the bottom of this post!

Here are the highlights from what has been released in the blog post.

1) The King of Carnivale will be welcoming everyone at 5pm each night. Anyone smell a Mardi Gras version of The Overlord’s Resurrection?

2) Passports will be given to all guests and can be found at the front of the park or at each country. This sounds similar to the WinterFest experience booklets!

3) Each country will have a stage, and there will be performances exclusive to that country. They will also have activities for kids and adults alike! Be sure to learn more about the cultures from the ambassadors and characters!

4) There will be something called the Adventure Club. This is an elite group, and while details aren’t given just yet, all you have to do is say that country’s native greeting to begin!

5) Regarding food, KD is selling Tasting Cards! You can taste up to six different dishes with one card, which I assume includes all five countries (Italy, France, Germany, China, and India) and the Finale booth under the Eiffel Tower!

6) There will be light-up souvenir cups for sale! You can also choose to fill those cups with either a kid friendly drink or one with the alcohol. Either way, sounds like a fun time!

7) The article lays out the parade route: it will start at Twisted Timbers, go through Candy Apple Grove, go through Planet Snoopy, and then stop under the Eiffel Tower! There will be nine floats, and each one will show off one country! I’m most excited for the Jules Verne Airship!

8) The fact that the park is saying there will be “hundreds” of performers deserves its own hype! Those are numbers we usually only see at Haunt!

9) Get your hands ready... LOTS of beads will be thrown out... just remember that this is a family event. Please. With an alcoholic cherry on top (if those exist!).

10) The night will end with a GIANT street party! Dancing, food, exclusive shows, and even some surprises will be in store!

WOWOWOWOW! This sounds like it’s gonna definitely be worth the hype! Get ready! The party begins in 12 days!

EDIT: Combining two posts!

Apologies for the double post! I can’t believe I overlooked this, but on Saturday, the park released the menu for the Grand Carnivale! From Mama’s Meatballs to the Emperor’s Chinese Spare Ribs, there’s something for everyone!

Kings Island is doing an amazing job at hyping up the Grand Carnivale! Here are some more pictures! Some are from the official park account and others aren’t.

With one week until the event, there is an advertisement in front of the Eiffel Tower!

Reactions: Ice and jornor
I noticed that same figure and sign in front of Eiffel Tower today and took a pic, and also noticed that the areas near the front gate (around the candy store on one side and Cornstalkers on the other) have recently had some "bead" decorations added, so I took a couple pics of those too.

My favorite part of any KD special event is seeing the decorations go up little by little each day! I’ll be at the park tomorrow and I’ll be sure to see if any more changes have been added!

This update has been way overdue... so throughout the week, the park has been adding decorations little by little! They’ve even added Grand Carnivale merch to some of the stores, including shirts for only $10!

Some of the decorations for China and India are especially impressive.

The event starts in 2 days! Get ready!
