Out of curiosity, where’d they say that?

At least this proves to me that KD kept some of that Volcano budget. Now can they get Backlot's going again?

At least the crypt has the ability to use the leftover propane from volcano (I assume they shared the same propane storage tanks in the back area between Avalanche and the former mountain).

Nerp. Crypt's propane is behind the ride area beside Outer Hank's.

KD Fanatics had a live stream of The Crypt running with full effects and sound today ... and a nearly full load of passengers. I think just one empty seat on the back side? I'd never seen more than maybe 8 people on it. It would seem that bringing back the effects has had quite the positive impact. Hopefully they take this to heart and bring back the effects on Backlot and more of the theming on FoF.

I assume that because Volcano is gone and its effects have returned, The Crypt might have significantly more traffic this year than it has in years.

As someone who rode The Crypt during the Paramount years when the theming and effects were pretty new and then after CF took over, this ride definitely needs to keep the effects going. Otherwise, it loses luster quickly, imo.

The issue with the Crypt was it was adversely affected by downtime for the past two seasons, to the point where its ridership loss has increased to over 50% of what it was under the first year of Cedar Fair. With Cedar Fair focusing on keeping rides that actually work, I think KD is trying to at least slow their 5 year streak of removing at least one ride.

I could see ridership actually decrease this season. The Volcano served as a "weenie" for the whole area and now that the coaster and physical volcano are gone, there's nothing to draw back riders. Especially as people start ignoring that area of the park as a whole as other than Avalanche and Crypt it's fairly lacking. That whole cove of Safari Village feels very desolate without Volcano serving as the backdrop and as the headlining attraction for the area. Whenever I'm in the area it looks like foot traffic has dropped considerably. The only reason I feel the Crypt is open is solely because of the loss of Volcano. It's a very apparent trend that most regional parks are taking out their top spins due to the high maintenance cost and considering our version has many costly effects it's very hard to justify operation.
