Wow.... just wow.
So many people work hard to maintain the look and quality of the park. This does nothing for the guest except confuse. It seems that someone has decided there must always be an overlay. I'm all for celebrations and season events but it's gone way out of hand. Just let the summer season be the summer and toss up a few fireworks at night. It's getting harder and harder to defend these events. I'm rambling now but, damnit is it too much to let the park stand on its own merits without having to resort to cheaply constructed and hastily thought out events. Food and Wine is awesome, Christmastown, and Hallowscream, are also fabulous. Events are fun when they make sense and are truly special. It saddens me to see such efforts, while good intentioned perhaps, so poorly executed. It's not always about budget, its a question of taste. If you don't have the budget or time to do something well then you shouldn't do it at all.
I don't know or really care who or what is to blame. Name calling and insults are easy yet unconstructive. Going back to "The Old County" that I grew up with isn't the answer either. Change is good, and necessary. Looking to other parks and what has worked for them is a good start. Learn from the mistakes and successes of your competition and strive to be better than you are.
