You can ask Gavin, I was just pitching the idea of an indoor Discovery Cove to him. Hmm... ;)

New idea! The park can buy the brewery and turn it into their very own super warehouse! They can store everything there!

OR.... INDOOR THEME PARK!!! Year round operation anyone?

I've heard for a couple years that there have been discussions about closing the brewery. I remember something about water being too expensive and there being negotiations for some type of agreement with the county.

InBev may very well take the opportunity to get some cash for the brewery if they want to shut it down anyways.

Too many jobs are lost if that plant closes. Long before it would happen, JCC would be shopping everywhere for another company to come in a keep the place open.

As for expansion. It's just too dang far away from the main paths to even consider that.

SeaWorld?! Come on guys...

If something happens to that plant (which I've been hearing has been doing quite bad lately and a shutdown is a definite possibility) I imagine both Kingsmill and Busch Gardens Williamsburg would be very interested in the land just based on its location.

Quite the shot in the dark but bulldozing and starting anew. I know. Big bucks.

Two words:
Movie Studio

I knew that... I was thinking along the lines of the property becoming their movie studio

Everyone on this board seems to have forgotten this.....

Why not just build an NFL stadium there with a team called the Busch Gardens Brewers?

Thats about just as likely as anything else I've heard.

Everyone needs to understand the park knows what it will be doing pretty much up to 10 years from now and I doubt they are leaving room open in hopes the brewery closes and then that land opens up. Plus who says the land would then suddenly be the parks? Thats a lot of land there. A lot of people would want it. But I hope that the brewery never closes. It is a massive source of income for the county and employs a lot of people. Losing something like that would be awful.

And don't think "oh well the park could build there and the new attractions would fill those lost jobs" Yeah not really. A job at BGW starting pay is around $7.60. You can't live off that. Especially at a seasonal park. Hell, the people who do work for the park year around in management hardly make enough to live off of.

One of the best things I took from working at BGW was the knowledge of how a theme park is run. And while having all these things we want would be great, they are either terrible business decisions or just damn impossible.

I'll play devils advocate....If Inbev plans on closing the brewery, they will close the brewery. Busch is just in a great position to buy the land if the situation arises. You do realize the park is now back by a very wealthy company. IT would be nothing for them to buy the land just because it could be used. For all we know, they could have plans to use it for more parking. People are coming forward and saying there are discussions, why are we to slam them?Speaking on the loss of jobs, that would be a negative. Though if everything goes through, and is successful, then the tourism in the area could be a year-round thing and create more jobs in a different sector. It's pretty obvious Jamestown/Williamsbug/Yorktown want all the tourism they can get. I don't see why they wouldn't support this.Of course, this thread is in the rumors section for a reason... It's also a great conversation so everyone relax!

As I said before, very unlikely the park would ever use the land, a movie studio, maybe but still that is highly unlikely. I say there is near a 25% chance the park would go for this.

I tend to agree on this point. I think if they use this land it will more likely use for parking, or shopping, or both or it could be tied in with the resort if the plant is closed.

Now, let's look at this from another point, like the plant not shutting down any time soon. I think Inbev would need this plant in Williamsburg area to keep there product fresh to those beer drinkers:D
