I remember seeing that ride when I was there. I would say that is a pretty intense rapids ride, but there are any rapids per say, more like a bunch of drops, some steeper than other.

With that said, I always found it interesting that the entire ride is on one building and you just go up an elevator and then travel down the various floors.

They need a drop or two, plus excessive theming! I would love for a ride similar to River Quest, but I don't think Busch's focus right now is RR. They are probably working on a new land and a new hotel.

I don't think I've ever met anyone who's ridden Rapids and gotten off dry. I rode it twice this month and got off soaked each time. Waterfalls, rapids, and water cannons.

There's a step in the center ring if you don't wanna get your shoes wet. Keep your feet on that. Better yet, wear a dark t-shirt and comfy sandals. That way you don't need to worry about then getting wet and you can remove them for the coasters easily.

I think it has a stop there that is used if it's backed up ahead. Don't think it was ever an actual feature.

Yeah... those gates act like a "block brake" like you find on a roller coaster. Since the station sends out boats sorta fast, the boats might end up catching up to each other. This way they can keep the last half of the ride spaced out so that the boats don't stack up inside of the revolving station.

The water cannons are to keep your mind off of the wait that the gate produces and to get you wet like how the ride is meant to do.

Easier way to put it, they don't want the boats bumping into each other when you're going through rapids, but when they bump into each other at the gate, it's fine.

I think those posts are there to slow the boats down so they don't have to close the gate so much.

there used to be water sprayers where the poles were.
If they removed the extra water jets, its because they completely closed off that area to turn it into a paid area only. Because my dad used to spend a ton of quarters there to spray riders.

My dad was disappointed when he came back to the park to find out it had been closed off. :/ He had those sprayers down to a science as to which number went off when to get a raft good and soaked, before they hit the waterfalls.

The last I checked though, they still had the machines up? Did they finally remove them? or are they just non-functioning now? (Or does nobody pay for that dining experience, thus nobody ever uses the sprayers anymore. idk I don't normally go to BG during the summer anymore.)

Just to point out there are also spray canons closer to the exit of the ride, they were installed just outside the gate for the buffet so you don't have to do the buffet to spray people.

^those are literally the worst canons they could possibly have in the park, and are zero fun to mess with. Because people are already getting wet from the canons that aren't manually operated.

/passionate about water canons

This would be terrible if they got rid of RR. As a kid it made me feel as if I was going trough a flooded city deep in the heart of Italy. Plus, all those beautiful statues. For some reason in Escape from Pompeii one always falls over, it's almost like it's part of the ride.

You cannot see any of the statues anymore sadly, they decided that they didn't want to cut the shrubbery around them anymore, so now they are all blocked up with shrubbery. It's sad because those little things did make the ride more enjoyable for me.

I agree. RR needs some serious revamping. Maybe more ruins/overheard arch/aqueducts that create water falls at the slower parts of the ride. I definitely would like to see more statues, and maybe actual structures, like buildings.Maybe a broken old chariot, and mosaic walls.

I think some kind of structure would be very nice. When I ride Congo River Rapids in Tampa, I always think "I so wish we had a tunnel like that on Roman Rapids." To be fair, I will say that I am not really the target audience for this ride, some people like the simplicity of it. I only ride it to humor my friends that don't like wild rides. That in return makes it all worth it to me, to see "easy-goers" enjoying themselves at a themepark, when they usually wouldn't.

I agree that Roman Rapids is a bit too simple....I think adding more detail to the theme would make it more enjoyable...also, maybe they could add a small hill like the one in Disney World...it is sort of like a water fall and creates a huge splash at the end that gets everyone soaked. In general, I feel like either you get soaked or stay completely dry on Roman Rapids, which is why adding something like the mini hill in Disney would get everyone soaked and make it more
fun.
