The waterfall with the statue in the middle of it near the beginning of the ride was not working also. RR is practically an empty shell at this point.

Man. I really love this ride, I seriously do hope they get it working. I don't want them to give up on it. Isn't it usually really popular during the hot months? It seems like there's always a long wait when I go.

I like not getting soaked, so no waterfalls is actually better to me. It's just the fact that the park is neglecting the ride all together that other features aren't working either.

I ask this: why is it even worth the cost of operating the ride if its key element isn't working? If I wanted to get a little wet I would ride Le Scoot. Running the boats around in an oval for the heck of it seems silly. I imagine the line still gets very long on hot days, so imagine how angry and disappointed some people will get for waiting in line for nothing. I honestly think they should just cut their losses and close the ride until the waterfalls are fixed. It just looks bad on the park's behalf. It's like playing the Europe in the Air movie without the seats moving, at least in my opinion.

It was back on today, along with the statue fountain/waterfall.

However, has anyone noticed how shrubbery has just overgrown, covering the statues that used to line the flume at the beginning of the ride? It seems like a simple fix, plus those statues were a big part of the little theming RR has.

I agree that RR is quite drab without the falls going. WWC at KD has been running successfully for many years without its final waterfall, but it has many swoops, swirls, spits and spatters that give it more ride elements than RR. It just feels cheesy. Oh, and I would probably enjoy EITA more if the seats did NOT move!

Just a side note, there are rides exactly like Roman Rapids but without the rapids and water splashing. Their supposedly peaceful and relaxing boat rides. The only issue is Roman Rapids is not advertised that way.

People already know that when you get off of RR, you're supposed to be completely soaked. You can hear people talking about it as they wait in line.

rode White Water Canyon yesterday while at Kings Dominion, and let me tell you...it blows! Roman Rapids away. I wish that some money could be thrown into Roman Rapids...the falls need to be working at all times, and please! please! trim the damn hedges! I'd like to see the statues and fountains running.

Honestly, White Water Canyon and Roman Rapids aren't even in the same league. One is super long, has loads of elements, heavy theming, and lots more... and the other is Roman Rapids.

Actually right in the main queue building there is a massive blue banner that says "You will get soaked!"

I just want to make it known, that yes I know how the ride is advertised.

Funny you should say that... I mentioned to my dad about the notes I had seen here that the falls might be out of service; he saw people getting off the ride less than soaked and started getting a bit worried. Nothing to fear; we rode Sunday and he was thrilled to get nailed by the waterfalls (I got hit too, but not as hard). The ride is not the same without the waterfalls, so it was good to see them up and running.
