I assure you that adding a first-of-its-kind, multi-world-record-breaking, 400+ foot tall, launched spinning coaster with an insane inverted stall launch is not a move one makes when trying to "kill" a park.

You know what I'm tired of? Listening to constant crying from people who are about to get one of the craziest coasters ever built. A park in this very chain like three hours away from SFGAdv was actually just murdered. Many of the people here now know what it's like to see a park destroyed—we can tell you about it if you'd like. Meanwhile, another park in the chain on the opposite coast is almost certainly about to be bulldozed and the chain is telling shareholders more parks will be getting the boot soon. So yeah, cry me a fucking river about your delayed strata spinner.

Six Flags royally fucked SFGAdv, don't get me wrong. Pre-merger, the park was horribly neglected—it was allowed to fall well behind competitors like Hersheypark despite its significant headstart. Post-merger, the park and its customers have been horribly abused too. Gutting tons of rides while actively lying to guests is demented behavior and you all should be absolutely livid about it for years to come. It's a level of active maliciousness that still shocks me.

That being said, in the grand scheme of things, while yes, SFGAdv may have been getting screwed for years and, in some ways, continues to be by the fallout of countless horrible decisions prior to this point, I can assure you that this Mack Extreme Spinner is very much not part of that screwing. And, yes, I know its no consolation for locals who just feel wronged by their home park, but, for context, a lot of other parks in the chain and their fans are going through much, much worse right now. So yeah, you will not find sympathy with the "woe is me, they're not giving me the exact specification of strata that I, personally, want!" refrain.

Thank you. Nobody in the GP is thinking about these coasters being shuttles. If they noticed the “slop they’ve been served,” they would’ve raised concerns about Great Adventure fifteen years ago. They are not killing the park with the biggest untapped potential in the chain, massive change was needed (fully agreed that this is the fault of legacy SF btw) and they’re in the beginning of that process. This coaster is unlike anything that has ever been built and will realistically be a better product than Ka. It’s incredible to me that enthusiasts will praise Ride to Happiness to no end, but this is some sort of evil coaster that should not exist in their eyes.

Six Flags invents "records" ad-hoc for marketing purposes. Batman Knight Flight opened at Geauga Lake in 2000 with the world's largest inversion, among other nonsense. Not a decade later was the park shuttered.

This is almost a consolation or an attempt at understanding, though it fails to acknowledge that Great Adventure continues to get screwed with no end in sight. This is a long, drawn-out death by managed neglect. I cannot imagine thinking the current state the park is in is an accident, nor that the most broadly appealing thing tens of millions of dollars can buy is a shorter, but (maybe) taller, version of the same gimmick that the other new coaster offers. Not to mention that linear shuttles are historically very relocatable. I know others are not having a better experience at the park than I am, and maybe the aggressive positivity is certain peoples' ways of coping, but I think thoosies' standards of "pls don't close the park! :3 it so fun and good !" are at a bare minimum, and non-thoosies will hear about the (intentionally) long lines and how all their favorite rides have been "imploded" and go elsewhere, whether that's an immediate change in plans or a longer-term decision to keep saving for something worthwhile. I 100% believe this spinner is actually less appealing than a relocated Giant Inverted Boomerang to the general public.

Look man, I'm sorry, but this take betrays a crazy lack of grass touching in my opinion.

The press is gonna got nuts for this project. Social media is gonna love this thing. You don't have to believe me now, just remember this disagreement in 2027. The proof will be in the pudding.

If "touching grass" is talking to people who don't know about roller coasters, I can't see what you're saying. Only people who surround themselves with thoosies would have any sort of experience to the contrary lmfao.

I know you "win" the argument already; you're an admin and I have All those Dislikes 😭😢😢😢😢😿😿😿😿😿. I'm just here to represent a completely valid viewpoint that people like you like to shout down for no good reason. Corporate austerity has consequences and denying that just furthers the initial agenda.

I truly wish I was capable of being so oblivious to the reasons these rides closed and the fact that the park needed help it never got, which led to the position it’s in right now. The park is very clearly in a transitional phase that is the result of long term neglect from the former SF chain. If they didn’t see the potential it has, they wouldn’t be bothering to make changes.

Funny how nobody ever complains about the other removals, even when Skyride was a far more egregious removal than Ka (again, not CF’s fault, long term neglect). Every day I feel more justified in my belief that nobody would be talking about the park’s 2024 removals at all if it weren’t for Ka being one of them, and that those who do are truly out of touch. Shit, nobody ever talks about the one that was ATTACHED to Ka.

I believe your claim, "I 100% believe this spinner is actually less appealing than a relocated Giant Inverted Boomerang to the general public." betrays a gross misunderstanding of how normal people engage with this industry.

I obviously don't have market research or academic studies to point to—I'm relying on my own experience and intuition—and who knows, maybe I'll be wrong and general audiences will look at a strata spinner with broad disinterest—I'm not a fortune teller—I just firmly believe you are overwhelming likely to be incorrect.

Again, happy to table this until 2027. I expect to see PLENTY of coverage and tons of hype but 🤷‍♂️, prove me wrong next year.

I don't believe I'm shouting you down. I'm attempting to build a bridge by highlighting likely points of agreement, broaden your perspective by providing context as per why most people in thoosie circles are unlikely to side with your take given the current environment, and defuse some of the more "out there" claims such as "They're continuing to kill this park slowly." while we discuss what is almost certainly going to be one of the most iconic coaster builds of the 2020s.

This was unwarranted. It's not crying to recognize poor business decisions in the past OR present.

I know I just joined today but if you think THOSE are the "out there" claims I have about Great Adventure then I have a lot more to post.

I see the von roll guy commenting on Great Adventure's instagram posts. don't discount him.

Nothing says killing a park slowly like investing in a massive 400+ ft ride in the middle of an unstable economy globally and shutting down other parks in the chain. Yeah, Six Flags doesn’t care about GAdv at all.

Trust me, I’m aware. Doesn’t mean these ones aren’t out there, it’s just that the others are REALLY out there.

One guy does not discount what I said. When Skyride and Parachuter Perch’s removals ARE brought up, they’re improperly attributed to the purge as if PP wasn’t gutted and SBNO already and Skyride hadn’t been SBNO on and off for a couple seasons, including all of 2024.

Damn park giving us a strata spinner with the world’s first inverted launch. The audacity!

I can tell it’s your first day on the board by trying to compare a woodie in the height of the coaster wars to a Mack spinner in the middle of a recession. I mean, did you come here to contribute or just dump miserable energy? God forbid people are excited about a non-clone strata coaster in a chain that is spend adverse right now

If TT2 is near the top of people’s lists, this spinner will be as well.

My sorta out of touch take is that this coaster could potentially be Toro level if it’s done properly. At minimum I think it’d be one of the best coasters in the chain period

Is this discussion about the survival of a super problematic coaster? No.

Has anyone said SFGAdv will never close? You're boxing with shadows my dude. We're simply saying that enormous coaster investments (especially when they come with huge area revitalizations) are a good sign for a park.

Again, closing lots of attractions? Bad sign. Treating customers like crap? Bad sign. Adding a strata coaster from one of the most expensive companies in the industry? Probably a pretty good sign.

If you want to play a game of historical comparisons re: the park's future, riddle me this: How many parks that have built a strata have closed? 🤔 What about coasters 300+ feet tall—how many parks that have built one of those are now closed? 🤔 Just a little food for thought for you.

I know this guy is a new user here but just so you are all aware he is all over the six flags and rollercoaster subreddits basically saying these same things over and over again. I understand the disdain towards the park with how things are handled but as others have said the negativity is disingenuous when you try to act like this addition is not a major investment aimed at bringing the park back to try and re establish as a top park in the region. As for the shuttle argument it is fair to be upset that back to back additions were shuttles, but the only reason for that is old six flags neglected the park so much that they weren’t even supposed to get a ride for their 50th until flash became available at the last second. Plus this will be a dual load. And what would a full circuit change besides the capacity anyway? It would just be a drop into brakes, considering how other strata’s have been built

"dump[ing] miserable energy" is simply a matter of interpretation. You know who else has limited historical purview regarding roller coasters? Everyone normal

How does their pre-existing status as trash make their very visible removals more forgivable? You think from Frank from Englishtown understands the nuances of the merger, why he can't recognize the trash heap he pulls into, and why it's worth his $70 plus parking?

If everyone is free to force their disingenuous excitement down my throat because they're excited for what they see as the future of the park, I should be free to express my disappointment for what I see as the future of the park.

It doesn't make it more forgivable. It makes it more understandable.

No. But Frank from Englishtown is probably gonna be really interested in this crazy new coaster everyone is talking about in 2027 and, if Six Flags has done their job right, by then the park will be a much better experience overall than it has been in recent memory too.

Fixing parks is a HARD task. It takes many, MANY years. Every positive move in the right direction is a little closer to actually pulling it off though which is why so many of us are excited about what seems like it should be a strong first step in that direction.
