I'm just desperate at this point for clues, but do you think the 25 hash marks are for 2025? Again I'm desperate, so probably not...

That’s a pretty good observation- I think it’s definitely possible. That would coincide with the park’s 50th anniversary too.

Plus, don’t forget the “Expeditions on the Horizon” teasers that got put up in the area after Volcano was removed. There were 21 tally marks on the sign, and Jungle X-Pedition and Tumbili would have been added in 2021 if it weren’t for COVID… so maybe there’s precedent?

Cedar Fair CEO stated in the 2022 1st quarter earnings call that he is excited for the 2023 and 2024 seasons; in that CF is contracted for new rides in those years. He stated that ride manufacturer order slots are filling up quickly and that is a good sign for the industry.

For KD, I am thinking something major in 2024. I still hold on to my guess that the park will continue with the Jungle X-pedition retrofit in 2023.

Transforming "Gravel Pit the Ride" (Stunt Coaster) to some sort of lost jungle temple adventure. I could see Andaconda get a light makeover to better integrate into the area.

Still not sure about FOF and I-305. If there is enough Cap-Ex for 2023, I could see FOF get a major re-theme like Stunt Coaster. For I-305, shrug.

Maybe a slim chance for a small/medium flat ride to be added in 2023.

I could see a Zamperla flat package next year similar to the Carowinds expansion but smaller scale to fill out Jungle X before the Volcano replacement. But who knows. Would love an Air Race and NebulaZ personally.
Seeing some more modern flats in VA would be nice- other than Screamin swing and a mondial frisbee.

^One option is a second Screamin' Swing at KD! ..........Finnegan's who? Irrelevant put Screamin' Swings everywhere! Make them the Scrambler of modern amusement parks!!!!

EDIT: Obviously that's an irrational take but at the same time........is it?

I mean, go for record-breaking at double the height or something like it and it'd be a good addition.

However, realistically, there are so many other neat innovative flats out there that it doesn't seem to really make a lot of long-term sense to go with an option that exists in some form within the local market - it will always draw comparisons, and opens up to negative comparisons that could easily be avoided.

I remember former GM Tony Johnson saying in a Q&A on YouTube that he had his eye on Old Virginia as a space to add some flats in the future. He clarified that there were no plans to do so at the time (this was in 2019), just that he had talked about that being a good spot. I think he specifically mentioned the go kart track as prime space for expansion in Old Virginia. So a flat ride expansion for Old Virginia has been a real conversation (if nothing more) at the park in the recent past.

I guess a handful of flat rides could go in Volcano’s plot, but all signs point to Volcano’s replacement being themed to one of the Jungle X temples, which would imply a single ride — probably a coaster. It would also require pretty significant infrastructural work to make that part of the park attractive and “walkable” if they put several flats there, which seems silly when the park already has several other vacant, more convenient spaces to put flats (Old VA, CAG in the remainder of Shockwave’s old plot, etc.).

Given that Screamin Swings cost $5-$6 mil a pop I wouldn’t expect them to pop up more than the SEAS parks which of all the SEAS decisions made the last 25 years that’s one of my favorites. I just felt like expressing my enthusiasm for S&S Screamin’ Swings!

With Carowinds flat ride package installed 3-4 years ago and potentially another flat ride package for 2023, I would not be surprised to see KD get a flat ride package in 3-4 years.

I’d agree with that if KD itself didn’t consider those rides part of the area. Going all the way back to when the area was called Congo, maps and in-park signage always referred to FOF and I305 as part of the area. Today’s maps, signage etc. still officially denote those rides as being part of Jungle X-Pedition. In theory, I’d be okay with the park officially partitioning those two rides into their own mini-area, but that’s not how the park considers them now.
People always point to this but there is a big difference between internal referencing and customer experience. From an internal structure it would be silly to create an entire operational area for two rides (and literally nothing else except the i305 shop) because they didn't match the themed area. It makes far more logical sense to include it, operationally, as part of the nearby themed area.

Here’s an interesting find in Outpost Cafe….
Well, as others have stated, the 25 could mean 2025; or, it could mean the number of months needed for the construction of the original "Lost World" ride complex.

The "bagel" sketch reminds me of an abstract reference to the "Time Shaft" rotor ride.

Course, these teasers could just be Red Herring flashbacks to previous attractions in the area. Or, maybe not . . .

Throwing this in the thread just incase it has to deal with this project. Can we figure out what the “Top Secret” is before they post at 7pm?

Edit: They have already confirmed it has nothing to do with Haunt or Winterfest.

So what are the chances we could be looking at an "off year" for 2023? I mean it wouldn't be far fetched for Cedar Fair to do after opening a roller coaster. My guess if any new hardware went in it would be flats or water park stuff for 2023 otherwise probably not much. One has to wonder if Cedar Fair is noting BGW getting very expansiony down in Williamsburg.

Depends what you mean. I think they easily could start re-theming the second part of Jungle X but not add any rides yet.
