How many construction workers are usually involved in constructing a new coaster? Like a dozen? The park is using the same construction company that they've used for basically every ride they've built for many years now. If X Y and Z people have all been at the company for, say, 25 years and have never leaked anything, and A B and C people have been there for 6 months and aren't as trustworthy... That narrows it down pretty quick too.

Only if they can figure out who it was who took the photos, cuz we'll never tell

Many construction site now have cameras on site in fact it's often a requirement for insurance on many major projects. That combined with limited controlled access to where some of those photos were taken means that the person who took them could be playing a dangerous game. Especially if cell phone use is probably restricted while on some of that equipment. BGW's feelings on the pictures may very well only be a secondary consideration if the person violated site safety policy. Based on past experience I would be shocked if BGW isn't aware of the pictures and I can almost 100% guarantee that they will be discussing it with the appropriate work site people so if a violation occurred it's not going to go unnoticed.

The same company had a major Darkoaster leak that got an employee in fairly big trouble so they have a history of working with the park to investigate.

Just for the record, the people saying it's trivial to track these photos to, at the very least, a very tiny pool of people, are correct. No use in hiding them away now and don't get me wrong, they'll super cool to see, but I hope whoever took them has a mighty strong reputation at their employer and/or has other job prospects lined up just in case. 😬

Well, schedule gets busy again and look at all of this. Took me a week or two to see we’re going with “The BBW.” Thanks for all the pics/updates.

Some thoughts:
  1. The three choices had sucked; already covered that. Did they get spooked about the debate here on a kinda-sort-of-not-really tie-in to a dark part of history? Nah, doubt it. Something else going on… but what?
  2. “The BBW” (again). I’m Ok with it. Sorry, I just don’t feel the same hate to reusing the name. No, the ride isn’t the original (it’s still a B&M!), and no, even if they mastered a swinging invert or whatever to make it more “pure,” it’ll never be like the original. That one is gone. I miss it, and I wish it was still here, but… there’s a reason few of these suspended Arrows remain. Does having a new coaster with some loose tie-ins, or reusing the same name, or not using an appropriate byline or in a preferred order dilute my memories? Nah. And for many my age (old enough that I say “hamlet”) and younger, they probably don’t even know the original. For them, and the families this ride hopes to attract, this incarnation of “The BBW” will hopefully be their future fond memories…
  3. Regardless… why go back to “The BBW”? I think this says it all… Data shows that nostalgia tie-in is having a good ROI. Park was happy w/ the LNM effort, why not get some mileage out of arguably its 2nd most famous attraction? Especially with a 50th anniversary upon us!
  4. Ok, so if that was their idea—why go through with the poll? I can’t tell you. Corporate decision making speed? Not sure whether this pivot was before, during or after the poll, but even if before… does it matter? Park probably felt it better to draw attention and engagement regarding a new ride than to say, oops, never mind this poll thing. Is the average guest who voted going to say: screw you BGW and your false hopes of a new convoluted German-esque Wolf/Storm/whatever related name—I’m not riding your coaster! Doubt it. Especially since now they know it’s coming and cared enough to vote.
  5. For those still miffed about “The BBW” again… I get the concern over conflating the new with honoring the old… But who would honor that memory more? BGW or some third party grabbing a name that is arguably pretty generic and adding their own connotations to it? You see, trademarks need to be renewed, assuming the owner demonstrates they are continuously using them, or they’re lost. And SEAS/United no longer is… “The BBW” was abandoned in 2020. (Side note: now that we’re going this way, it behooves them to refile!). Did you know that “Big Bad Wolf” (sans “The”) also is or was a trademark used for non-theme park purposes to include hot sauce, T-Shirts, and condoms? So would you rather have Dollywood use it? “The BBW” would be a good name for a ride in Wildwood Grove, no? What about…god forbid…Kings Dominion? While I’m sure I would have done things differently (but then again, I don’t work in this industry or for the park), and I hope they don’t gut theming, etc.—I’d rather “The BBW” live on with BGW as the steward.
“The Big Bad Wolf” is Dead! Long Live “The Big Bad Wolf!”

I gave your post a Sad react because this part is sad but true. The threat of a competitor trademark-trolling BGW...I guess they had to do what they did. As I've said elsewhere, I've directed some of my ire away from BGW for this, and directed it towards B&M for creating the family inverted coaster to begin with.

I will still call this ride Ersatzwolf from now on.

I agree. Pointed this out before...BGW should unapologetically OWN the big bad wolf property. If not now, when? And this will be a great ride! As for B&M, you can't get more top-notch for ANY coaster no matter the style.
