You got that right. I hope that they take some inspiration from Phoenix Rising and put some screens with wolves in the station.

Maybe a wolves howl as you dispatch. That can't cost much... right 😨?

With any luck, "cuts" will just mean no more onboard batteries/audio/lighting/etc. Rumor was those may have been cut months ago though so... hard to say. There's also some chance that it's too late in the game to make those cuts too though. 🤷‍♂️

Would definitely be curious to know if what @horsesboy heard could have contributed to pulling the presentation from IAAPA this week though. If so, that would be some major DarKoaster déjà vu. 😬

What got pulled from DK? Given how horrible the onboard audio for PR has been, that isn't even a real loss tbh.

BGW & Holovis were scheduled to have a big DarKoaster IAAPA press conference to give details about the thematic/media package designed for the coaster, but it was cancelled at the last minute right around the time most of the ride area theming was cut.
Not to mention, they actually told ambassadors going into the test rides that the ride was only around 50% complete, thematically, yet we got maybe like 2% more after they finished out the test rides. There were plans to make that second lap more themed, in addition to adding more that weren’t there initially.

It’s like corporate whose HQ is in Orlando, gets wind of BGW wanting to present something at IAAPA that enhances a brand new attraction and immediately senses a stock buyback opportunity.

Maybe one year the park should put on their website “be sure to read about our ALL-NEW stock buybacks! Heres an analysis of how much it increased shareholders wealth!”

If it’s true that the onboard audio is what got cut, that doesn’t bother me at all. Not only does it sound like Phoenix Rising’s onboard audio has been incredibly glitchy and inconsistent, but I never felt like onboard audio was right for a coaster that’s being positioned as a spiritual successor to the Big Bad Wolf.

BBW didn’t have onboard audio. Part of the charm, IMO, was the isolated feeling of traveling through the woods and the desolate village. Onboard audio is often additive for a coaster, but for a “BBW 2”, I think it might’ve distracted from and cheapened the experience.

I remember reading that BGW used to play the sound of a bell ringing in the village, and played a wolf’s howl in the distance. That would be something I’d love to see return in lieu of expensive onboard audio — it’s inexpensive to execute, realistic, subtle, and eerie.

I see people are running with this assertion. Anything to denigrate the park (not you, just anti-bgw trolls)...what makes you think that is the case considering the ride construction and theming is already commencing and do you have any info on what in particular is being cut?

Things change rapidly. You can be pretty damn far into a project and have budget cuts, happens pretty often. If you look a little past that post you can see @Zachary throw out some potential areas the budget was cut.

I wouldn't be surprised if the landscaping budget for planting trees around the ride got cut. It looked like an insane amount of trees they were going to fill the field with. The signage leading down the path might have gotten reduced as well. These are just guesses on my part.

On board audio, from what I understand, is still happening. I wouldn't be surprised if that also got cut. This is something I wish didn't happen in the first place though, personally.

Well for starters it's come from multiple sources not just one that are not linked an tell similar enough stories to support each other. I of course know these sources and they all have a pretty solid track record of being honest and correct. Add two that the timing of BGW cancelling a ride related event at IAAPA right after hearing these reports which is similar to how events with Darkoaster unfolded and I believe that the reports are credit able enough to share even if NOT 100% confirmed.

As for what might be cut I see a couple of possibility the most likely in my view is station and queue theming. I would also not rule out things like PR and marketing support less likely but possible. Also yes construction has started on much of this but the timeline on when cuts started was not clear to any of my sources so it's entirely possible that the village could have originally been bigger and more elaborate or that on ride audio could have been removed before the info on cuts got circulated far enough for me to hear about it.

Gotcha, thanks. Hopefully whatever it ends up being is minor and doesn't detract too terribly from the overall experience 🤞

I feel like corporate calls up the park like “did you REALLY not consider all the shares we could buy back instead of a bunch of trees and theming elements??? Remember up there “stock buybacks > all ESPECIALLY guest experience expenses. When considering budgeting expenses to increase guest experience, always ask, did we think of the shareholders wealth experience first?”
