I was pretty low on this ride until I rode Dragonflier in August. If it’s more fun than that ride it may very well be something I try to get on each visit. I guess it’s nice to use “Big Bad Wolf” in routine conversation about the park again? Still a strange look for the park honestly.

Has anyone on here been on Phoenix Rising? I’ve heard it’s one of those “more fun than you expect” types of rides so that makes me hopeful for this thing. I mean my 2025 new B&M interest will be a bit more “green” that’s for sure.

Usually a “Revenge” coaster is bigger or an improvement over the original. Big Bad Wolf Jr would have been more appropriate.

No one is saying it's "doomsday stuff." Lots of us just think it's a really, really bad decision.

I don't think anyone is under any delusions regarding this being some ride-ending event or whatever.
Okay but why is it a bad idea?

I sent the survey to about some 50 odd people in my life and every single one has liked the official name better than those on the survey.

I laid out some of my thoughts here.

I fully expect most normal people to hear The Big Bad Wolf and the three names the park originally proposed and prefer The Big Bad Wolf. It's just a better coaster name in a bubble in my opinion—and I fully expect the masses to agree. That said, that's a condemnation of the park's horrible names, not naming the coaster something unique.

Also, just broadly, I don't believe that popularity contests should ever name coasters and I believe a competent, stable, grounded theme park operator should see the issues with that approach right off the bat. Great art is rarely the result of a democratic process. This goes back to some of the theme park philosophy I laid out here a while back. Guests aren't the experts on their own experiences or preferences.

Bruh.

Are we being trolled right now? Are we on Candid Camera or something? Ain't no way BGW published a press release with that quote.

ISN'T LITERALLY THE ENTIRE POINT OF THIS PROJECT THAT THEY HAVE DONE SOMETHING VERY MUCH LIKE THIS BEFORE?!
I know you're supposed to react with a reaction, but I legitimately laughed out loud to that, which almost never happens!

I saw that coming from miles away, which everyone else probably did too. It doesn't take a genius to spot any of the blunders that are unfolding right now. Just the slightest bit of insight ... that's all we need right now.

ChatGPT could have done better:

Well, I'm not so sure about the cutting edge technology. I mean, if you use basic logic and say the important stuff, there's no reason anyone should be this far off track. (Not talking about ChatGPT's response, btw, which was perfectly expected)

Probably a really easy thing to critique, so sorry if this comes off a bit unhinged, but it was just too hilarious to miss.

I have! It really is a “more fun than you expect” ride. The back row has a surprising amount of whip to it. Then the funky wall stall type element that is followed by that switchback moment into the overbank is a seriously fun setup of elements.

The “we’ve never created a ride like this before” bit is amusing.

You mean the new ride that:
-is named after a defunct coaster
-is the 4th B&M in the park
-is a smaller version of one of those said B&Ms in the park
-has 2 lift hills
-uses theming to “immerse” you
-held a poll for its name

That ride? That ride is unlike anything you’ve done before?
