Ok last rant for the night, I promise.

Holistically, this is all made even worse in my eyes by the fact they already have Alpengeist. I don't feel this way about BGT's B&M invert pair because Phoenix does not have a predecessor/proxy model, and was actually needed to some degree for the families.

To put a double-lift invert in Drachen Fire's spot and call it gravy is just beyond my comprehension. Never would have dreamed in a lifetime they'd chose this, and in that spot, with that "likeness."

It's like building a 45 MPH Apollo's Chariot jammed next to Pantheon and calling it "Airtime Express: Apollo's Journey to the Sun." 😅
Careful! BGW (inept at sarcasm as they are these days) might misunderstand your post, and we’ll be looking at Project 2028!

I’m still waiting to see what the landscaping is like once the product is finished before I get too upset. That’s the biggest thing giving me hope about this project. I wonder if they are going to use mature trees or if we’ll have to wait a long time for that area to look like a forest. If they are mature trees, this ride might satisfy my nostalgia enough.

This ride seems to fill in everything that I felt was missing from Verbolten while being more qualified to hold the title of “family coaster.”
Verbolten didn’t do good enough at satisfying BBW nostalgia thematically, and it’s a bit too intense to be called a family coaster.

We still get as much intensity on Verbolten if not more than on the original BBW. That’s why I’m not too angry about this project and why I can imagine seeing it as a valuable addition to the park.

Yeah waiting to see about the landscaping and the train experience. I mostly rode BBW (The OG...) as a kid and that train didn't let you see anything under the horizon. BBW (son of) at least gives all riders a fully open view which is at least an improvement in my book. I mean the near miss events should be a lot better.

If the thing said "The Continuing Story of the Big Bad Wolf: The Wolf's Revenge" where the last phrase is the actual name, that would have been fine. Or at least "The Wolf's Return" since this isn't that aggressive.

They got 30,000 votes and say that like it's a lot, yet probably expected 300,000.

It also helps that you could vote multiple times😋

What was the point in voting on a name then? They could’ve just said the Wolf is back. I think “ Revenge Wolf” would be a better name imo. I know we’re positive note, bbw was technically, my first real coaster that I ever got to ride at Bgw

Personally I don't think the contest was ever the plan. I think it was meant to draw interest and then they would always say what they did.

if I was in Busch’s shoes I would’ve done the exact same thing.

I’m making a coaster that has a ton of tiebacks to a former coaster. Do I A) use an existing name that people still know and love, gaining more ticket sales or B) use a new name that will require a ton more marketing and exposure. Keep in mind this project is also tucked away in a corner of the park.

You can say the name is cliche or uninspired, but this name choice will only be beneficial for Busch.

Don’t shoot the messenger!

Totally understand, but then why not do that to start?

As much as I don't like it, I also don't think anyone outside of this forum will really care. Not that that makes it okay, just my two cents

For the record, I agree with this.

I also agree that, insofar as immediate returns go, BGW does stand to gain a ton from cashing in on the Big Bad Wolf name in the short-term.

My argument is not that this is a poor business decision in the immediate term. In the lead-up to the ride's debut, naming it Big Bad Wolf and telling people that The Big Bad Wolf is coming back is almost guaranteed to massively outperform any other strategy. I'm happy to concede that point.

I believe the immediate issues are only something passionate nerds like myself are likely to care about (protecting the legacy of a legendary coaster instrumental to the park's development). I believe the real pitfalls of this name theft will come much later on down the line.

This coaster will not compare favorably to The Big Bad Wolf. Capitalizing on the nostalgia and legacy of the theme was great, but by stealing the name, they are asserting it not as a tribute, but as a replacement. As a trubute, a small family invert is a good, cute idea. As a replacement, a small family invert is a laughably poor knockoff.

There's an enormous difference between capitalizing on nostalgia by paying tribute to something and blatantly attempting to steal the nostalgia away from something to boost a new product. This name change has shifted this project from the former to the later to me. I also believe the change will massively increase the direct comparisons made between the two Big Bad Wolfs—something that only serves to diminish the 2025 coaster long, long into the future. It will always be the lesser Big Bad Wolf. Inflicting this coaster with that burden from the start is just sad.

Lastly, I'd say that, by stealing the original's branding, BGW has made it much more difficult to capitalize on nostalgia around the original coaster or this new one long into the future. Personally, I am now dramatically less likely to buy or wear Big Bad Wolf throwback merchandise because I want to own stuff relating to the iconic Arrow Suspended coaster, not a super tame B&M family invert. By going with a name that pays tribute, BGW could sell merch and market off nostalgia for the original Wolf long into the future alongside developing a new but related base of fans for the 2025 coaster. Instead, by conflating the two, they've effectively substantially lessened the long-term value of each, in my opinion—and prevented any ability to capitalize on them separately (at minimum, reducing two brands to one).

I was a little close with my prediction, my idea was to have swinging train and a track built by vakoma and it also had a different layout

So I have an interesting idea for most of you but what if they were to bring back big bad wolf as a first of its kind swinging the coma suspended coaster and place it in fest House Park in fact I made a track layout with terrain modification which could work as well as a picture to go along with it using the Drachen fire station and maintenance building don't worry it will have the village too View attachment 30545

Repurposing the old name and outright reusing elements of the old logo...I'm just done. It's a slap in the face, a middle finger.

And to claim probably the most dubious record of all time. What other family inverted coasters are there as comparison? Phoenix Rising, the Chinese B&M installations, and the first-gen SFCs that had trains more like SLCs?

Not that I’m a huge conspiracy theorist and I don’t care enough to actually investigate this…but has anybody checked to see if all the social posts they quoted demanding it just be “Big Bad Wolf” are even real?

They're real, but they're obviously a vast, vast minority compared to the people who advocated for one of the trio of options BGW offered. It's definitely disingenuous for them to claim this name is the result of some sort of a majority opinion.
