Wölfsturm sounds fine to me. It's the only alternative that sounds like a name. I'm definitely not a fan of including the Wolf in the name, but Wölfsturm is just the only one that rolls under the tongue as a coaster name when not considering meaning.

Seriously, though. Read the forums, marketing people. It's Holzfäller, unless you guys can come up with anything better.
Alot of people just wanted them to call it the big bad wolf again

Stav, you seem particularly upset at anyone pointing out how similar Wolfsturm is to Volkssturm. You’re making personal attacks calling anyone noticing the similarity “schizo”. Now, I wouldn’t have any grounds to call you a nazi, I just find it funny that the people quickest to downplay nazi symbolism tend to also be the ones ultimately making excuses for the atrocities committed by the nazis. Probably not a very good look, I hope it’s just a coincidence.

Thanks for proving my point about the political brainrot here.

Can’t believe I have to say this, but everyone involved in this overly stupid and ultimately inconsequential argument, shut the hell up. This isn’t directed at anyone in particular either. It’s the name of a bloody roller coaster made for families. Did BGW do a bad job with names? Yeah. I’m not trying to say they didn’t. But at the end of the day, it’s up to the park goers to decide which of the three names it gets. Arguing here does absolutely nothing for anyone, except maybe annoy me. We are (presumably) adults and maybe some teens arguing over the name of what is essentially a children’s ride, that, admittedly, has unfortunate similarities to certain historical things. In my opinion, as long as these similarities are not intentional, then there is no need for any argument or anger. This conversation is done. Over.

Well now I wanna keep talking about it to spite the people who are annoyed. Just leave the forum for a while (insert Tyler the Creator cyberbullying tweet here)

Kidding, but I'll also say I agree with Nicole that it's interesting that some people seem SO opposed to people saying Nazi stuff is bad. THAT'S all I'll say.

Nazism sucks and is an absolutely vile and horrible thing, I was just a bit annoyed because, as I stated earlier, at the end of the day, it’s a children’s ride, so unless these are kids that have some gnarly history study habits, it probably won’t be a problem for them.

I’m calmer now lol.

Just imagine BGW realizing:

“Folks, there’s been some errors regarding the name of the new attraction. It will actually be called… Wolf’s Chance!!”

Followed by an Instant facepalm from anyone who’s half well read about WWII. 😂

“…uhh, scratch that, how about Wolf’s Angel?”

Is it too late to pressure for another name like how Cedar Point was going to use Banshee for the stand-up before it became Mantis and the logo would be repurposed into Steel Force?

Lol, I was honestly confused trying to figure out what people were that upset about... until I discovered I had already ignored the worst idiots. Time again for a PSA, if you click on a username, you can click the ignore button! I just added a couple to the list!

Just as like a super broad, meta statement: Debating details about parks that certain individuals may or may not find relevant to their individual park experiences is like 65% of what happens here.

It's all good if you think any or all of the names are fine. It's also all good if you think one or all of the names are horrible. Regardless of anyone's opinions though, one thing is definitely true: the discussion around these topics in a thread about the attraction in question is completely and totally valid. If you're not interested in a specific topic that is being discussed, that's fine—wait it out or introduce something new that interests you (shout-out to @Skyride for doing that earlier!).

Anyway, yeah, the discussion is totally valid. Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Am I late?

Not to keep beating a dead horse but here is my two cents. It sounds close enough to immediately draw those images in my head and I am far from an overly PC kinda person. On top of that I heard several people at the announcement making similar statements. Do I believe the park ment to go that way hell no I don't think that they planned it. But here is the thing any coaster addition is a major capital investment for the park and the chain as a whole. To not have focus grouped and tested these name options to death before this announcement to insure that they don't accidentally draw those comparisons or other potentially offensive ones is an epic failure by marketing and that is were the real issue is.

Exactly, what is the upside of using a potentially controversial name when…you really don’t have to? It’s an unforced error. It’s not like it’s an established brand whose name or logo has become “problematic” and is now facing difficult choices. It’s easy to head off any possible controversy at this point, but embarrassing that nobody at the meetings even thought of this. Cause yeah, if somebody notices, “hey this sounds like some nazi stuff” that should probably be the end of that bullet point in the brainstorming session.

PS I LOVE Moonhowler and its variants 👍
