If it wasn't for F.L.Y., I'd say all flying coasters are horrible. I actually saw an interview with Vekoma for their original flyer where they said it wasn't as much about the feeling of flying as about disorientation, and that's right on the money. B&M said fine, hold my beer. Unless Pipeline turns out 3x as good as I expect -- which is better than most expect -- I don't have a lot of confidence in B&M reinventing their designs. Of the flying coasters I've ridden there were only 2 short moments that felt like flying and they were glorious, and yet I still consider them the worst coasters I've ever ridden due to a complete disregard for producing the sensation they were invented to produce. The result is instead a gimmick.
F.L.Y. is not the ultimate embodiment of the new Vekoma flyers, just the ultimate themed one. It has limited space and is constantly curving. Reports are that it has a bit too much of positive Gs to be very rerideable, yet it leaves some desire for the greater intensity of the B&Ms. Positive Gs need to be used for achieving upwards momentum to use for airtime and inversions, with short curves mainly for spice, not to keep it within a small square of space.
