That's probably why they're so many
Expanding on this my source is saying it is not a done deal either way but that there are decent odds that it will end up bring a project saved for 2025 but no final decision on that.
This sounds kinda similar to what is happening down in Tampa. I'ts hard enough to get parts to keep the existing stuff open ATM, ordering parts for new rides is gonna take significantly longer too, and we are getting pretty late to start that process for a 2024 opening.Expanding on this my source is saying it is not a done deal either way but that there are decent odds that it will end up bring a project saved for 2025 but no final decision on that.
Not to mention the fact it would fit their typical model (2021-2022 excluded for delayed reasons) of doing a coaster then a flat ride/family attraction then a coaster. It makes much more since that way, put a flat in place of da Vincis cradle (already has walls up), then 2025 coaster for parks 50th anniversary.
IPaC has recently updated their boundary for the Northern Long Eared Bat:We are waiting for U.S. Fish and Wildlife to issue a guidance document on the Bat, as is DEQ and the local review agencies. We have instructed our clients to start logging properties that they want to develop next year. Forestry companies are getting extremely busy logging and cutting to get trees on the ground before January 30. That's the day the bat gets officially classified as endangered. If there are no trees, then there is no habitat and therefore no bat. The State currently has restrictions for clearing within wetlands from April through October, however a simple acoustic/endangered species study can be performed. We received some pretty good intel that this will be the process after January 30. There is a benefit to BG's location. Most of the bats are concentrated in the mountains where there are caves. Not many caves around BG.
Seen this a bunch of times. As much as you want to protect every species, sometimes if you have a window to clear without having to do a study it’s better to take it.IPaC has recently updated their boundary for the Northern Long Eared Bat:

If I draw a circle in the area of Festhaus Park, the bat is indicated to be found in this area. BGW will likely fall under the time of year restriction for clearing unless, like you stated, they do a species study and find there are no bats in the clearing limits or they start clearing operations early.
Those species studies are a little tricky. We did one a few years back and ended up finding a species at one of our sites we weren't anticipating even being there and that raised a whole new set of restrictions.....
I have also had the experience of finding an endangered species on site that was not expected. It was a bureaucratic and paperwork nightmare.IPaC has recently updated their boundary for the Northern Long Eared Bat:

You are forgetting the soil sampling that was done. Presuming that the final plan uses the full area sampled then you are looking at land Clarence based based on those sampling locations.I'd like to think something that could fit there without clearing trees would be a good option. A hyper coaster sized version of Goliath at Six Flags Great America would fit in the spot that's already cleared and can utilize the existing infrastructure with the high point in the same spot as the permits. The only thing that would have to get rerouted is the service roads.
Might be a bit of a short ride to most of us here but that's definitely a beautiful looking ride that I think would use that half of Festhaus Park wonderfully. The other cleared half of the park could still be used for seasonal events.
