Anybody else think there's a shot if they do go with an Infinity Coaster that they'd take the risk on something like Karnan at Hansa Park? If we got a similar ride I would be sooooo happy.

Considering the technology and size of the attraction it is not one of Gerstlauer's cheaper projects, but it'd definitely fit that unique / quirky ride that KD has a reputation for.

^Yeah I don’t think it’s likely at all just a pipe dream honestly but that would be so awesome. It would give us a 200 footer, vertical life and beyond vertical drop.

I'd like to say a couple of things regarding this. Volcano's closure was unexpected, for guests and park management alike. Upon its closure, a replacement was likely not planned. Compare this to something like the Big Bad Wolf closing because it is very similar. Maintenance costs/revamping begin to get too expensive for a ride to operate so it is closed. Big Bad Wolf, unlike Volcano was torn down almost immediately after closure due to a planned replacement, hence why footers in the Rhine remained. Volcano, stood SBNO for months until demolition began. I'm led to believe that this time it stood was a planning stage for what to replace it with/a safety concern for guests during the Fall of 2018. Because Volcano's closure was a surprise, I think that Cedar Fair is looking to "fill the gap" with the unexpected closure and give Kings Dominion another ride. I do not think this is going to be anything spectacular, a roller coaster to fill a gap in the lineup, but nothing record-breakingly amazing. My guess is it will be a B&M Wing Coaster similar in size and style to Flüg der Damonen perhaps with room to expand.

Given how close it is to the amphitheatre, they could make it a pseudo GateKeeper station area with some flats.

Or, if they wanted to go crazy, they could cross over top of the FoF launch tunnel and use the space adjacent to I305

I guess that pile could cover the whole cleared area with 3-4 inches as the average depth.

Course, if a free-standing coaster is going there, then it would be the twin to the Stunt Coaster. I don't think CF/KD wants another "gravel coaster". I know I don't.

I would not rule out the chance of a "structure" being built there. There is always a possibility that KD might be building a replacement mountain with (an) attraction(s) in, around, and over it. If the park goes that route, I would think the construction could start in August / September. They would need more than the 8-10 months for construction of a major free standing coaster. Maybe we'll get better idea this fall.

I imagine that the mountain would be built around the coaster after the coaster was at least partially built.

I will hold out hope that a re-designed version of Volcano comes as the replacement of the previous version. I recall (cannot remember where I saw it and a quick Google search found nothing to jog my memory) someone mentioning that Intamin proposed to Kings Dominion a modification to Volcano that would expand its capacity and speed (100+ MPH launch).

I realize that I am treading into the "tin foil hat" area, but I want to believe that Volcano could come back in some form...

As much as I liked the ride, I'd hope with such a revision that they would make use of the height and do more with the speed you got on the drop to the station. Thinking something like another loop around the hill with some more interesting elements.

However, I'm thinking it's not likely to be the same type of ride in that space, if they're even going to stick an actual ride there at all.

Would at least think they'd try to stick something there when they're finally done with replacing the wave pool for the water park.

As much as I'd love to be optimistic about the ride size and the Volcano / Mountain coming back, I don't think Cedar Fair is going to put the money down on it. Hell I don't think they're going to put much money down on Volcano's replacement, either. Maybe it'll do some loops, maybe it'll have a launch. But I have my doubts about it breaking 70 mph, 200 feet in height, or 4000 feet in length simply due to Cedar Fair's newfound focus on themeing and area experience. Copperhead Strike will be the upper threshold of their ride investments for a while.

Personally, I wouldn't mind Cedar Fair throwing money at improving the look of Kings Dominion. Backlight is an Abomination as far as how absolutely nothing works on it anymore. LOL . and the Crypt, what a joke. When you have a bunch of holes in your fake rock work that you refuse to patch. That should say something to you about their Direction. LOL. If they spent the next two years repairing everything that's in disarray and cleaning up in general. I would say that's 2 years well spent.

Just curious, but all these pages of theories and guesses...how do they relate to that teaser poster that went up a while ago? Or was it a decoy?
