Nice job ignoring the difference between a solid Gerst infinity and a bunch of carnival rides.

That literally has nothing to do with what I said. Obviously a Gerstlauer Infinity Coaster is more interesting to me than a Mondial Top Scan. But I can’t control what the park does so I’ll just enjoy whatever they add as much as I can.

Aren't PA and NJ "Mid-Atlantic"? Fahrenheit at Hershey is 97°, and the Nick Universe in NJ will be getting a slightly altered Takabisha clone with a 121.5° drop.
Also surprised no one mentioned but MMXX is rumored to have a 95° drop. So while it would be steeper it wouldn't be as novel.

Pure speculation, but a HangTime clone Infinity coaster makes so much sense.

1.) The ride is already designed (but is 2600 miles away) - which creates less expense for such a large capital project
2.) Fairly inexpensive for such a large coaster - estimated $8-9 million
3.) Fills the void of Volcano's height (155') well at 150' tall
4.) Fills the void of Volcano's inversions (4) well at 5 inversions (with more variety)
5.) Decent capacity at 800 rph (16 per train, just like Volcano)
6.) Could incorporate unique faux rock landscaping like RailBlazer at California's Great America, blending in the remains of Volcano near Scrambler while honoring the past
7.) The unique lighting package could work for a Safari Village theme, Avalanche theme, or an outer space theme (to make FOF "blend in" more - like everyone assumes the KI giga will do)
8.) The ride wouldn't use all of the vacant space - leaving room for 2 flats or more, which could be added at the same time as the coaster or later down the road
9.) It would be marketed as "the steepest drop in the Mid-Atlantic" at 96° - which would be wild to the public with Intimidator 305 (85°) and Griffon (90°) already being so steep
10.) There is a possibility to open up a new midway under the ride (where the mountain structure once stood) connecting it to the FOF plaza, spreading out the dense crowds on that side of the park

Just to show how large of a site Volcano actually was I quickly put the quoted concept together. It would be similar to recent Cedar Fair area refurbishments including Knott's Boardwalk, Cedar Point's Gemini Midway, Carowinds' County Fair and ValleyFair's Route 76 projects.

  1. Infinity coaster: HangTime (Knott's Berry Farm) clone
  2. Flat ride: Pipe Scream (Cedar Point) clone
  3. Flat ride: Electro-Spin (Carowinds) clone
  4. Future expansion area and/or Haunt maze area
  5. Area entrance/exits

Safari Alley has a nice ring to it. I know this is beyond wishful thinking, but it's simply showing how large the site actually is (and that it could become its own area).

^Nothing is more egregious than Cedar Points Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster seatbelts. Those seatbelts are like "oh you appear to have an extra 4 pounds of fat? Damn unsafe for you to ride!"

If it helps explain things neither of those rides have a minimum down safety sensor and Cedar Fair for whatever reason rarely decides to update the programming and technology for their rides.

The only two rides I know of that had a definitive change in programming or update after opening are Volcano and Racer 75.

I don't think the area needs a coaster necessarily, as long as they also build a new coaster somewhere else. Would the former Dinosaurs Alive area work? Just please don't cut down too many trees....

I would lower your expectations there. It seems nowadays when coasters are built they will cut down ALL the trees.

It took 24 weeks total for Knotts Berry Farm to clear the land and build Hangtime. I'm not ruling anything out until at least September/October. Also remember that while KD usually has new rides open the first day of the season, it's not a guarantee. Could open in May since they had to spend a lot of time clearing volcano's site. Not saying it's not 2021, but I think it's still too early to call it.
