RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

Well some of those newer permits non related to Project Madrid could be the new electrical upgrades the park is trying to make. Yellow flags were spotted a few months ago by caribou.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

Hello all. First time poster but a long time lurker. I've enjoyed reading this forum for many years and I finally decided to jump in. I happened upon this article last week and I haven't seen any mention of it, but since this thread is about "Project Madrid" I thought I would throw it out here. Anyone think this could tie into the new project or is this simply a coincidence?

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

First off, welcome to ParkFans!

As for a potential correlation between a sale and Project Madrid, it is almost certainly a coincidence. I've been told that SEAS corporate has been using major city names as codenames for projects lately. Not something I've been able to independently confirm, but an interesting data point worth mentioning regardless.

Regarding the rumors of a possible sale, there is a thread dedicated to the topic in the SEAS company news forum, here.

Zachary,
Thanks for the welcome, I enjoy reading your board. I figured it was coincidental. I just found it somewhat interesting considering the rumored company is based in Madrid. Anyway, if I stumble on anything else sale related I will post it in the linked thread.

Cheers.

I heard it confirmed today by the Festa train station operator, new hamlet just behind the station in the pastures. Named Madrid. Features a 315 for tall coaster!
Here we go again. Train opps know nothing!

I think you mean conductors, sir.

And considering Dave Cromwell and Jim Costello have quite a bit of interaction with lower level management and part time/seasonal employees, they might know a little more than you think :)

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

I have a hard time believing that leaking actual plans and trade secrets to an entire train full of guests is not a fireable offense. Even if the conductors knew anything, they wouldn't give themselves away so blatantly.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

It's not a fireable offense.. but it's definitely not sought after.

I wish I was able to say more, but I can't.

Anyone know if B&M makes cable lifts with their gigas?

I believe you can privately contact Nicole or Zachary concerning any information you have and they'll be able to help you suss out the truthiness of it, should there be any, and if it's reasonable to share that information with the rest of the forum.

They don't

That kinda stinks. They're really fun on Skyrush and I305.

But now I'm leaning towards B&M giga for this 2019/2020 project.

Intamin has a patent on their cable lift system, which is why you see no other company doing it. B&M or any other company could do their own variation but this system is a lot more expensive than a traditional chain lift.

I just think a chain is way too slow for a giga.

Skyrush's cable system had issues year 1. From the linkage not being flexible enough to make the starting angle, to end system just failing some days. The old chain system is still more reliable for the time being. There might be a time when the cable pull works better, but this isn't the day.

What if this coaster in Spain uses live bulls to haul the coaster up the hill?
Then throughput will be almost as low as Tempesto's.

Here's my vote for ride op uniforms.  Rancho Carne High School Toros. It's just one hemisphere off, that's all.

Still holding out hope that it will be an Intamin.

Yeah, there's a reason e.g. B&M has stuck with chains.  Plus B&M's are now much faster and for years have accelerated so they don't even need the pre-drop (though I like the pre-drops, even if not needed for chain stress).

Still holding out hope that it will be an Intamin a B&M. ;)
