General Information:

"Project Drachen Spire," is a community-generated identifier for the Intamin-made, multi-launch, shuttle giga coaster that was originally slated to open at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in 2021. The attraction is planned to utilize the currently-vacant land behind Verbolten, Festhaus Park—the former home of Drachen Fire.

The coaster's main layout—as leaked before the addition was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic—featured two launches, two spikes (one spiral, one vertical-ish), and a couple of banked turns. Drachen Spire was designed to run two trains by means of a pair of switch tracks connecting the primary, shuttle portion of the layout to the station platform.

The GP love Fury 325, I havent ridden it but it sounds like it hits a nice balance of intensity. My non enthusiast friends went to Carowinds and loved it, so I still think if 2021 is a giga it would work well for the park.
That’s definitely true. I went not too long ago for spring break and it’s not like only enthusiasts were riding, it had an hour wait and everyone seemed to love it.

I think, whether you're in the Giga faction or not, you have to to think outside the box. BGW has (with possible exception of Invadr) always "broken the mold" when it comes to coasters. And it appears, with both confirmed and guesstimated projects, SEAS has taken that philosophy corporately. Like the location or not, even Finnegan's Flyer took a "standard" flat ride to a new level by swinging over "cliffs and water".

So, sticking with that philosophy, what can they do with a giga to be unique? If rumors are true, Hershey's "longest, fastest, tallest" to-be-announced coaster is a giga. If their boasting is accurate, it'll be over 325ft tall, longer than 6602 ft and go faster than 95mph (if Hershey is talking just steel coasters the US). So does BGW try to beat that?

With Hershey possibly surpassing Fury 325, I think it's improbable BGW tries to one-up the chocolate people. And I don't see BGW building any coaster without a unique or "record-breaking" element. That's why I think a giga is not on the table and that we'll see a new, unique design not yet seen.

Hershey explicitly advertises their records as in park. So their statements are in line with Hersheypark itself, not the rest of the world.

You do realize that this giga would have to break KI’s records, not Fury’s, right?

God, I hate that I'm responding in this rumor mill of a thread, but I think if KI is getting a record-breaking Giga—frankly—it doesn't mean much for Busch Gardens.

Busch Gardens isn't competing with Kings Island. Or really competing with Kings Dominion for that matter. Busch Gardens is heavily themed, with appeal for families all across the East coast. A huge coaster will be great, and no doubt attract some crowd—but very few of the majority will care if it's the biggest, tallest or fastest coaster around. Just that Busch Gardens is getting a cool new coaster.

I misspoke, I guess. I misread Hershey's tease to be national. However, like KI, all I've seen is spectation. Wake me when it's official.

I could be entirely wrong on this, but there appears to be footers for a transfer track before the lift hill which is also found on Fury 325.

Wrong way round. Brake run, turnaround, transfer track / storage, station, then lift.

There's a lot of questions I have regarding the scale of those plans but the KIC forums are currently freaking out because apparently the actual plans are in someone's hands and they're getting tons of PM requests.

Either way based on the scale and prior designs of their gigas, those blueprints accurately state the station length for the coaster will be approx. 40-50 feet long but the lift would only be in the neighborhood of about 110 feet tall. So it's all super fishy at the moment and unless someone comes out and posts all of it publicly, I'm not inclined to state anything on height, length, etc..
