General Information:

"Project Drachen Spire," is a community-generated identifier for the Intamin-made, multi-launch, shuttle giga coaster that was originally slated to open at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in 2021. The attraction is planned to utilize the currently-vacant land behind Verbolten, Festhaus Park—the former home of Drachen Fire.

The coaster's main layout—as leaked before the addition was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic—featured two launches, two spikes (one spiral, one vertical-ish), and a couple of banked turns. Drachen Spire was designed to run two trains by means of a pair of switch tracks connecting the primary, shuttle portion of the layout to the station platform.

I think some people early on in the MMXX thread did some concepts showing it fit.

I looked at Google Earth. Intimidator's full length (final turn into station to furthest point after the drop is 890ft. From the main "DF building" in a straight line to the left of the old maintenance building it's 930ft to the Rhine shore. If you went just to the right of the boneyard you have over a 1000ft to the river. So certainly there's room.

It’s well-documented that BGW owns a ton more land than what the park itself currently occupies. If they’re actually going to invest the kind of money it would take to build a giga in that corner of the park, needing to clear trees to make more room than the current FP clearing isn’t going to be what stops them.

Random thought:

If 2021 is a thing, shouldn't we consider the possibility that SEAS bundled two Intamin projects together a la what Islands of Adventure is doing right now?

Theoretically it should be a lot cheaper for both the park and the manufacturer to roll straight off of one project and into another.

These guys visited the B&M plant and there's a lot of track being produced. It looks like most of the track there right now is for Hershey Park's hyper. With I305 up the street I'd hope not for an intamin giga. A lot of people might like it but a B&M giga just fits the park better imo.

Kings Island 2020, my bet.

Ok, I'll bite.

An updated Falcons Fury tower and a Mega Lite coaster. I could envision the coaster doing some terrain hugging, tree fly-bys to the Rhine and back.

What does KI have to do with this thread?

So? That means zip at this juncture. And, aside from rumors and one mention in a permit application, nothing is confirmed for KI...which has it's own thread. IMHO, it's pretty much grasping at straws to draw conclusion for BGW based on that.
One of the theories out there is that BGW delayed/changed the original plan for Madrid because they wanted something from B&M but they were already booked with Hershey and King's Island next year so BGW had to wait until 2021.

It's funny in that I followed the Madrid/MMXX thread almost from the beginning. Only after someone recently started taking pictures of track does this theory come up (unless I was blinded by the countless "no f-ing way BGW will build an Intamin" talk ??)

I looked on RCDB and they've built just two over 300ft, the last in 2012 2015. That hardly qualifies for "they're back in the game". Also, under "hyper" (no giga listing) it only shows 2 future builds - Hershey (as noted by @b.mac ) and one in China. RCDB is pretty reliable tracking future builds (they knew it was Intamin for MCXX before most people).

Edit - corrected last built year.

The last B&M Giga was Fury in 325 and you are correct that they have only built two of them.

I also never said whether I think it's true or not. Just showing how it could relate. It's a theory that I have heard multiple times. I think it's come out more recently in light of the plans for MMXX showing a ride that is not as tall as the original height waiver and people take that as a sign that the plans changed. B&M generally builds very few roller coasters each year so it makes sense that if BGW was looking to build a B&M Giga that they might have been told they needed to wait until 2021 because Hershey, Kings Island and who knows what other unannounced coasters already had orders and B&M said that 2020 was possible. And then BGW decided to do the opposite of what they did with Drachenfire said they would wait and shifted plans to something else.

Could I see that have occurred? Yes. But did it? I have no idea.

The only thing confirming a 3rd B&M project right now is the project codes.

Hershey 2020 is MCR
The giga project is MCT (and still not yet confirmed to go to Kings Island)

We're missing an MCS, which not a single piece has been seen yet.
And that is just of the mc type track. It is my understanding that within those code names MC refers specifically to hyper/Giga so they could be building something else entirely that is a different code name.

Well, if it excites the "I wanna/it's gotta be a giga" that's ok. I'm agreeing with @Zachary's premise of an Intamin package.

Taking that further (my guess, not his) is a tower and medium coaster as I speculated before. And I don't see a new hamlet. I think they'll go cheap and "Festa-ize" it - the ”Black Forest” of Oktoberfest.

I was talking to a friend of mine from Design and Engineering last night and we were talking about all the exciting things happening at the parks. And they said yet it's going to be a really busy two years with two roller coasters coming and instantly had that look on their face like they let out a secret that they shouldn't have.

I didn't press for anymore details because they had already shared more than they had wanted to.

It's going to be a coaster guys. I'm really hoping that they use the majority of this height waiver unlike with MMXX.
Yes that would be great! So the odds are if it is a coaster (which it pretty much is) it will be a B&M giga
right? And if so can we expect something more like leviathan or fury?

No.

One person hearing something from someone does not equate to it "pretty much" being true.

Additionally, how are you getting to B&M giga? Height waivers =/= coaster heights at BGW. Ask the MMXX thread about 2020's height waiver.

Skepticism. Use it. Might all of these things be true? Sure. MMXX could have been a Red Force clone that crossed the Rhine too. How did that "leak" go for people?
