At the park last night, the Eire adverts on the Germany-Italy bridge had "coming soon" placed over top of the original "this spring" statement. Not a good sign IMHO.

To be fair to the park the 'coming soon' could have many meanings. Soon could be this weekend. Could be this summer. Maybe they wanted to make it seem closer than just a generic 'spring'.

Unless the advertising for "April" outside the park changes I'm not all that concerned.

The fact that they put any effort into changing a sign at this point is telling. Having April on it narrows down a timeline and gives guests a perception of a number of days left before opening. Coming soon does not, because if you read it now or August its still "coming soon".

But its good they at least changed it though because it means that they may be trying to soften the blow. If you have a sign that says april and the days tick by its going to really upset people who are going to be like but you said april!People en masse waiting for things sucks. lol

Businesses tend not to put "Coming soon" and still wait for 5-6 months to open something. "Coming soon" is typically a much shorter term reference.

Personally, It doesn't really bother me. I think changing it from saying "coming this spring" to "coming soon" is a good sign. They've still got some soft opening testing, the short wait after that, and the grand opening. Not having an exact date/time in there is fine. Billboards in the RVA area still say April, website still says spring. If it's going past that I would be willing to bet that the billboards and website would be the first things updated because that reaches more people than in park signs.

Just a counterpoint thought to that:
Sign says coming this spring, the chances of people wanting to walk by and investigate are lower. Saying coming soon, they might get more people walking by it, meaning they might be prepping for a soft open.

Valid point. we shall see i hope they do get the bugs worked out soon for it and they can start doing soft openings.

Incidentally, depending on where you look, the website says "Spring," "April," and "Soon."
Couldn't they just say ready at some future point lol. But really i wonder if they just haven't choose a final time, someone hasn't been keeping track of the website( im assuming due to the start of the season rush maybe?) or intentionally trying to keep the guests on their toes.

The upside here is though they are using different words and phrasing; they don’t reflect major timeline changes. If they changed to “coming this summer” or “coming in 2018” I would be worried. But spring/soon/April is close enough and the best part is they haven’t taken away the month. If they took away April as a shown month then is a big problem.

For what it’s worth.....the security guard at the toll booth when parking was chatty and said “The new ride isn’t open today but opens next weekend, employees get to ride Wednesday”.

That’s why I said for what it’s worth. Thought it was interesting he has specifically saying next weekend.

Interestingly enough I overheard three different people (park guests) mention that "the new ride opens next weekend" while in the park tonight. Im not saying it is or isnt but people are hearing this from someone somewhere. Either they are planning to open it or someone is giving bad information that will make a bunch of people mad.

I was told by a park employee yesterday that it would later this month.
Which means before May 1 in theory (and not 'earlier this month').
Headed down in a few weeks, hoping it's ready for us.

At least they're finally going to announce it other than letting us speculate it any longer than it needs to. I said it before I shall say it again: April is the perfect month to open a ride like this.
