Except, as I recall, the media day was ice cold and they were held captive, exposed to the elements, without heat, proper hydration, or even kibble and were frog marched to the ride one at a time.  (or something like that)
Yes^^^

This is most certainly my favorite of the sneak peek videos so far. That first pre-show was AMMMAAAZZZIIINNNGGGG!! :D (Y)(Y)

Media Day should never be a "test run" of an attraction; that is what soft openings are for.

A soft open allows the park to test a ride, while there is still time to identify and fix problems, before it officially opens.  Guests are expected to understand that in exchange for getting a sought-after preview, they will likely have to tolerate operating issues.

A media event, however, is a marketing tool, designed to hype a new attraction.  The press should be able to experience a ride and tell everyone how fantastic it is, and encourage their readers/viewers to buy tickets.  Usually, the best approach is for the live shots to run the same day an attraction opens to maximize the impact.

I think it probably does more harm than good for the park to allow the media to experience a ride, when it still is not working properly.  Case in point: my post above.  That is why the soft open traditionally happens before the media day.
Thanks for clearing this up! I was confused, but now that i have a better understanding of the terminology (lol) I agree that it is detrimental for the park to have the press experience it like that.

As for the Vive going out, not really shocked. This is a place where in theory you can figure out how much memory and processing power something g will need, but won’t know for sure until it’s put into use. Could also have been some overheating because there wasn’t enough airflow.
Good point! i never thought about issues with things like airflow with a vr system and it makes alot of sense.

Just to be clear: was talking about the CPU not the unit itself. Ever try to run two Vives off the same computer? Crashes easily even if you have the right everything. VR really puts a strain on the computer.

<---- this sums up my experience with vives at all lol. still i appreciate the clarity, when explained that way it makes sense though.

I wonder if there is a way for multiple VR to work well with only one computer without crashing so much. That can be a big issue down the line if not dealt with.

I suppose this is my fault, for not publishing anything after our media tour (blame TT and Sesame Place).

BGW is well aware of the computing issue. Their solution was to link each Vive to a separate computer. So, they never need to share systems.

That said, I think they are already maxing out their CPU system capability. (Zachary/PK: correct me, if I mis-remembered that.)

WDWRLD, I only said what I said because you said this: "This ride could surpass Mach Tower as the biggest park failure ever!"

I will only ask if you can please wait until the ride actually opens before making such statements. It's a big pet peeve of mine that drives me crazy.
Done.....I wont say anything else until the ride opens to the public and then we will see if what I have heard is true or not.
Is the ride open yet?? So much to say.....

Yea I would wager a bet they are linking those units to get them to all sync up, and running the VR software, rendering the images, and linking the computers is putting immense strain on the system, and that many systems likely put in an area together is getting hot, causing some more issues.

I'm going on thursday and I was wondering, can you ride it then or was it only open for media day? :cthulhu:

It wasn't open earlier today I plan to swing back by latter in the evening on my way out and see if anything has changed. I will update if there is a change.

Not like it was the week leading up to media day unfortunately. The time commitment is far too extreme to keep up.

Maybe we should crowdsource the rest of #BattleForEireWatch? People list what day(s) they'll be at the park and commit to check in on the ride a few times each day?

I won't name names, but someone is not available like he was last year everyday... Cough... Cough...

/me grumbles about 2 weeks of his life he will never get back listening to the same 8 terrible songs...

I heard after pass holder preview that there was going to be no need for Eire Watch anytime soon so I put no effort in it like I did for InvadR last year. InvadR paid off though, well worth the number of rides I got in before it officially opened and all the good smokehouse food I had for the week!
