RE: Project 2017

The post says that "invadr is the official name of Project2017"...wasn't verbolten's 'project' name and 'ride' name two different things?

RE: Project 2017

Just when we thought that the names couldn't get any worse, they decided to capitalize the "R" in Invadr... It's like they thought that the missing "e" wasn't apparent enough.

That was just a placeholder for the theming documents. It was never referred to as Elementum. This was the time when the park wanted to keep everything top secret until they made their announcement.

Old Norse apparently has Rs at the end of names that they are referencing. Check out this discussion on a Norse Name forum-

RE: Project 2017

I remember a time when BGW's coaster's had pretty cool names. Alpengeist and Apollo's Chariot are great names, in my opinion. None of the options for the vote were very good at all, so this isn't surprising, but the name just seems so beneath what the standard once was. Even in 2007, it seemed that they were slipping. Griffon isn't the greatest name, but it isn't terrible, though the alternates they decided against were shockingly bad to me (one being a pun off Voltaire, which was just atrocious). There didn't even seem to be any creativity imbued in the choices offered here; no thoughts of Norse or Viking mythology. My hopes are not too high, even if a wooden coaster is needed in the park. Now it just feels like a perfunctory installation to fill a need instead of a beacon of hope for the future. I just hope the ride is alright at this point.

RE: Project 2017

I definitely won't care about the ride's name when I'm (hopefully) hauling ass over 9 airtime hills, but at the same time, the name is quite "meh" at best.

Makes sense. I just thought I'd fuel the pot with the possibility that everyone just named the project instead of the actual ride.

If InvadR is anything like White Lightning in Orlando, I'm enthused. The POV makes this look like quite a ride, and it's shorter and slower than InvadR.

Anything remotely close to that with LeScoot involvement? Color me excited.

I just stopped by and rode that last night(It's been on my to do list). It's a very pleasant coaster. It has lots of floater air and rides really smooth. The one thing that bothers me is the way that the brake run is banked to the left. Its a real silly thing and very much a nit pick, but I still wonder why it's like that.

RE: Project 2017

We rode White Lightening last winter and really enjoyed it. I thought it was a great little woodie and a lot of fun. That said, a ride that is appropriate for Fun Spot, is not necessarily the best choice for a park the size of BGW.

Naturally, I am not going to judge InvadR, until I have ridden it, but I thought I could provide some perspective.

RE: Project 2017

When you say it may not be the best choice, do you mean that in terms of ride experience, capacity and/or type? I'm just curious as to the reasoning behind that, as I myself have not ridden White Lightning, but it does seem like a very fun ride.

However, it may be similar in terms of ride manufacturer and (to an extent) ride elements. But I do think they will be fairly different experiences, considering this will be a very hardcore terrain coaster with a very different layout.
