RE: Project 2017

Anyone else feel that the 2100 ft ride length is a little bit of a mislead at the moment? I haven't actually overlaid or measured anything at the moment, but just a rough eyeball of the layout the 2100 ft length feels like a flat line measurement of the track length.

RE: Project 2017

I've been pondering the name for this coaster since it was announced.

Loch Ness Monster: Legendary beast from Scotland.
Alpengeist: Ghost of the Alps
Griffin: Mythical beast often associated with France.

So, what legendary beast roams the dark woods of our neighbor to the north? The new coaster should obviously be named... Sasquatch.

I really want a BGW branded shirt that says, Gone Squatchin'.

They could've used La Corriveau, but the story behind her is a bit extreme.

A+ to BGW for posting that blog (and BGWFans for posting it here for me to see it) about naming the ride. It was interesting to hear it from their perspective and while I know a lot goes on behind the scenes in order to name a coaster, it was cool to have them answer our questions. Well done BGW!

I did a very rough trace of the layout on Google Maps, and it came out at right about 2,000ft. I'd say 2,100ft is about accurate. Would be a bit longer than White Lightning.

I would have loved a Wendigo-themed coaster. Sure, the theme is being used for Howl-O-Scream currently, but the Canadian woods monster would be a deliciously sinister creature to theme a wooden coaster after. And the Wendigo would fit right in with the park's other legendary beasts of past and present: the Loch Ness Monster, the Alpengeist, the god Apollo, a griffin, a dragon, a fairy tale wolf, etc.

There are tons of great names that are not trademarked. I understand the way that creative things like this go in a board room though. This is just the name that nobody hated. I still would prefer Fenris/Fenrir if they wanted to go Norse.

EDIT: The foot print for this ride covers ~2030ft. Not including any terrain or hills.

You know if were going with a Norse monster theme then I propose the Draugr because its a legendary monster from Norse Legend and it fits with the Viking Theme.

Came across this stake today next to Caribou. The interesting thing about this specific stake is that it is labeled "Pump House". Looking at the plans, it corresponds with a small building on the corner of the site. So I'm wondering if we are looking at some sort of water feature with this ride, or is it for something else entirely.

RE: Project 2017

Here's something that explains the story behind the ride better.

"The attraction’s theme will be based on a fanciful legend related to the exploration of North America by Vikings. The coaster will invite riders to join the battle between a band of invading Vikings, who have survived for generations looking for new territory, and the residents of the New France trappers’ village, who are fighting to protect their outpost."

Actually I'm seeing two typos the first is after the word mistake, there should be a semi-colon right there.
In dictionary entries and in common use (e.g. newspaper editing), the phrase "make no mistake" typically is accompanied by a comma, em dash, or colon. I can't recall ever seeing it followed by a semicolon.

More markers and such going up left and right. New France is about to get a lot louder in 2017.

This view will soon be a whole lot different.

Corresponding with the plans this will be the location of the turn around after the lift.

I know these are just a few stakes in the ground at this point, but crucify me for being excited!:p
