RE: Project 2017

Thanks halfabee. I should clarify what I was saying about the airtime. Apollo is and will be for the foreseeable future, the king of floater air at BGW. IF Invadr ends up with proper ejector air, it will unseat Apollo as the best airtime coaster, but only for those who prefer ejector air over the nice long floater air that Apollo features.

If it's a floater coaster, then at least we'll have a nice family coaster and something for the woodie folks.

RE: Project 2017

So, not to confuse the coaster enthusiasts, but some of us care more about that feeling in your stomach on a really good, straight drop, than various types of airtime. Nessie, for me, does the best job at BGW of creating that feeling.

Where I am going with this non-canonical post, is that several woodies (like Rebel Yell) have also done an amazing job of creating that sensation for me. I am hoping that InvadR has the same effect.

RE: Project 2017

As a kid, I thought the Nessie first drop experience surely must be somewhat (or exactly) replicated on rides all over the place.

Then, once I got my driver's license -- a major, major deal at the time -- and started traveling farther in search of coaster thrills, I came to understand over time just how unique that first drop on Nessie really is.  Rides that do it as well are few and far between.  (...And they were fewer and farther between back then.)

Couldn't agree more with you good folks.  A hard stomach-grabber of a drop can elevate a coaster from enjoyable to exquisite.

IMHO the drop is the most important element on any coaster.

That would make sense then that you don't care much for Alpengeist. Alpengeist's first drop deliberately removes that stomach feeling by wrapping those forces around your stomach. It creates another unique feeling that you most people seem to enjoy. Otherwise it may feel like something is missing.

Personally, I can't decide which of those feeling I prefer on a drop. I just want a unique "rush" feeling without getting thrashed around too much, which Nessie doesn't do to me.

If you go to SeaWorld Orlando, you will find good examples of what I want for BGW (like Kracken) as far as forces go. I can only hope that the crowd sourcing will work in favor of a great ride. I only think that's possible if the park has good ideas that won't matter much in terms of what the people choose. Only time will tell.

RE: Project 2017

As for the forces discussion:

I like them all TBH. I feel better with the forces from a ride like Nessie or Verbolton. I love the forces from woodies. Usually floater forces give me issues (not queasiness, from concussions). What I don't like about Griffin and Alpengeist is the inversions have a "snap" to them (especially the cobra roll and Immelman) that cause the problems.

So typically those coasters with shorter airtimes and feeling of high speeds at low elevations do more for me.

Not saying I can't ride those others, but theres reasons I do better with rides like Lightning Racer, StormRunner (I cam from HP being my home park), Hule (in it's old form), Revenge of the Mummy, Verbolton, and hopefully InvadR.

Honestly, best said in this whole convo. The long and short of it right here.

According to Screamscape

2017 - InvadR / Wooden Coaster - (4/8/16) Update - GCI did confirm on their Facebook page that the new InvadR wooden coaster coming to BGW in 2017 will be a GCI. According to Screamscape sources, Busch Gardens Williamsburg is expected to receive the old Gwazi GCI-made Millennium Flyer trains as well as other various expensive parts from Gwazi (lifthill motors, brakes, etc...) to use on their 2017 InvadR coaster, which would also seem to confirm rumors that the project is also from GCI.

Because screamscape is a mile wide and an inch deep. Most of what they do is share content that others post and vet insider tips.

Screamscape referred to BGWFans as KDFans in a recent post, so there is that.

Anyways, back to InvadR, anyone want to speculate on why the park has labeled one of the stakes as "Pump House". Seems like a rather odd thing to have for a wooden coaster.

The park is currently telling employees that InvadR will open in Spring of 2017. That might actually happen. CEO, Joel Manby said that one of his priorities is to ensure earlier opening dates. He also said that June/July opening dates are frustrating to guests. Maybe this one will start early enough for them to heed his call.

As early as they announced this ride, there is absolutely no excuse for the park not to open this ride at the very beginning of next season.

Any update on Gwazi's status?

Been closed since February something, Curious if any demolition and Parts salvage has started. IF this is true I assume all salvage parts will need to be getting to Williamsburg sooner than later.

Checked the Gwazi thread on BGT's Forum but no updates there.
