RE: Project 2017

And before anyone says the accident was solely the operator's fault (overrode the blocking systems, allowing for 2 trains in a single block), its not. This video of smiler testing shows just how poorly engineered the coaster truly was. Watch how it barely crawls through the batwing/cobra roll combo. The valley should have never happened in the first place had it been better designed.

Look at 1:58 and 3:11

Gerstlauer used to build a wide variety of Eurofighter layouts- many of which were well above 75 feet and not very compact. That said, Gerstlauer no longer makes Eurofighters. They have moved on to their new Infinity Coaster product.

And we can't talk about Gerstlauer right now without talking about Smiler. I'm pretty sure the failure of that coaster is going to keep Gerstlauer out of any notable chain park for a while. Because of Smiler alone, if Busch Gardens wanted to build something in the vein of a Eurofighter, I think we'd be looking at another Zierer project similar to Impulse at Knoebels.

All that said, I think the possibility that it's any of these things is remarkably slim.
Thanks for the info! And yeah that is a good point about the smiler just trying to tell myself it's not gonna be a mack spinner

RE: Project 2017

It might not be a Mack spinner. We can reasonably exclude Gerstlauer, as well as any type of coaster that has long trains. The trench seems wide enough for 44 seat wide trains so that isn't an issue at the moment. It is getting late to apply for a height waiver but they could still go through with one. At this point I would say that a height waiver is unlikely, but possible. It is worth noting that the 60ft AG is measured from the top of any structure, therefore 60ft limit != 60ft drop on level ground. That would be a max of 50-55ft.

Also note that the queue for this ride is pretty short. This shows that the ride will not be a HUGE deal. This won't be the type of ride that people will come to ride from all over the country to ride like Griffon and even Volkswagen.

Some sort of RMC is unlikely but also technically possible.

RE: Project 2017

I guess since you are talking about German cars you are referring to 'Bolt. Other than now owning Porsche I am not certain why VW has to do with the ride. I can't think of anything else in the park that is German car related other than the bumper cars, so I am really lost. Why/ what are you are referring to it as VW. I just don't get the reference.

Verbolten/volkswagen, poe-tay-toe/poe-tah-toe. They have a beetle too! Sorry guys, not trying to derail the thread with my strange nicknames.

Ahem, 2017?

If I were to cook up another concept this weekend, what would you guys like to see? As long as it isn't something completely out out the question I'll consider making it.

I think a thread in the concepts section of the forums would be much better suited for your potential concepts.

RE: Project 2017

I don't see any problem with Project 2017 concepts being posted to this thread as the rest of the thread is mainly unsubstantiated ideas as well. That said, if someone is thinking about doing a series of concepts and looking for the extensive reader involvement or feedback, a thread in the concepts forum wouldn't be a bad idea.

RE: Project 2017

Since opening day is coming soon and the park has been doing so much different marketing I wonder if there will be anything displayed in the ride area teasing the attraction or acknowledging it.

if you look on the pass member website it mentions a special showing at 11 in the globe theatre and they are going to talk about new stuff for 2016 and "valuable" information on project 2017 chances are they will tell us stuff we already know but...we will see how it goes...

RE: Project 2017

In one letter it said "Be one of the first 800 Members* at the Abbey Stone Theatre by 11 a.m. to learn about 2016 park happenings plus exciting details about Project 2017."

Is there another presentation in The Globe, or is there possibly an error somewhere?

RE: Project 2017

I could be wrong but I don't think the Abbey Stone can hold 800. Or maybe that's it's capacity

RE: Project 2017

The Building capacity is around 800, now for seats that will probably be around 100 at the most maybe more so someone is going to have stand. Though I will be asking about camping chairs cause if you can use one of those then your good to go.

Abbey Stone has way more than 100 seats(that's 10 rows of 10 chairs). I'm just not sure it has more than 500.
