RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Im going to guess they will put a bridge back in from behind the carousel to thr back of the swings to alleviate traffic. 94 feet is too short for the rhine river but not that ravine.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Yeah, that figure is for the height, not length of the bridge.

Exciting news about the permit for the new coaster! I'm not big on speculation, but I can tell you what I know. The permit for the changes in France are to remove the gift shop where the breeze way is, the one that had the oyster stand. It looks like they are trying to remove that choke point. Another thing I've seen is they are going to modify the restrooms in Heatherdowns, basically doubling the size. The existing restroom is going to be converted to a ladies room, then the area where the Clydesdale display was will be converted to a men's room. Lastly they are modifying the guest services area by the Globe Theater. Hopefully we'll learn more about the new coaster soon. :D

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

I love seeing posts from Zoomy. Thanks for the info!

As for the bridge, does anyone know how tall the Rhine River Trestle (train bridge) is? 95 feet is really quite tall. It would be almost as tall as Nessie's first drop. That's a tall bridge...

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Generally "grade" is defined on the civil plans as a point above sea level. Since we don't know exactly where they are referring to we can only guess where the 95' above grade is.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Well, according to Trails.com the area between Rhinefield and Oktoberfest (where there apparently used to be a bridge) is 102 ft. above sea level. Seeing that the bridge is said to be 95 ft. above grade, I'd say that we are looking at the old Rhinefield-Oktoberfeast bridge being put back into place.

That would make sense, but I have a hard time believing the spot where that bridge was has a 95ft. ravine

It isn't a 95 ft. ravine, it is 102 ft. above sea level. From what I got from Zoomy's post, above sea level is normally what is referred to when speaking of grade.

but why would that be necessary???

Austin hit the nail on the head. It's to give another route through Oktoberfest and a quicker route to the Mach Tower.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

I'm sure it also partly has to do with handicap people that are in that area and want to get to the front of park but unable to do with that steep hill. That bridge would set them up for a quicker route than going back through Ireland

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

On a related sidenote, the balloon test will be done on the 8th (as we know) between 8am and 2pm with a rain date of the 9th. Just wanted to post the time in case anyone was interested in going to check it out.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

WY Daily had a good interview with the county planner listed for this project in which she states the land is going to be flattened out and the base of the ravine is considered the "existing grade". The ride will also interact with the old Big Bad Wolf station, the new building and the new bridge. If it is interacting with the new bridge, that clearly means it's not going to be on the other side of Mach Tower.

Let the guessing continue...

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

I don't like the sound of
the current landscaping of the Big Bad Wolf ride, which includes a ravine, will be flattened; that is considered the “existing grade.”

I guess they need to to build the building, but I hope the new ride takes advantage of the landscaping in that ravine, rather than destroy it. I really liked speeding through the woods with the Big Bad Wolf.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

I'd imagine it won't be a complete flattening, just enough to put the building in. Hoping it doesn't end up looking like Griffon. That would make Swiftman so bitter he'd be unbearable.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

I hope they don't destroy all of that land and just build a flat coaster like the Griffon and most Six Flags/Cedar coasters! :dodgy:
