RE: Successor Project to the Big Bad Wolf

Am I the only one who thinks that the drop tower should have a pre-show?

No, you're not the only one.

So long as it is done right, and not a walk through as it is playing like DarKastle. I find it hard to pay attention to that with the line moving constantly and kids screaming at your to make sure you are moving.

I so agree. Without seeing the preshow Darkastl makes no sence. It should be in a separate room like EitA. I think Spiderman is like that too, but it's been a few years since I rode it.

RE: Successor Project to the Big Bad Wolf

Spiderman is a story throughout the entire queue and Dr. Doom tells you the story while you're waiting to get launched. I've only gone on Doom with the Universal quick queue (forget what it's called), so I'm not sure if there's story elements in the regular queue line.

So long as there is a story and they explain it I'm sold.

I'm big on theme and story. Spoiled on Disney I suppose.

DarKastle's pre-show was like EitA's when it first opened. Then they changed it to increase capacity. DarKastle used to be a much better ride than it is today. :( The ride is just a shell of it's old self with the toned-down forces and the lack of the fire effect as well as the pre-show.

I agree Swift'.
The loss of the preshow staging, the fire is gone, the toned down spin, the original stairs effect, all gone since 2005. I never have liked the stiff animation but that was there from the start. I'm pretty sure they changed the banquet scene some as well.

If they dress it as well as the did Darkastle then I'll be happy.
I just pray it's not Vampire themed, that thing would be dated in a hurry. anyone else remember the Wild Izzy? yech...

At least we knew Wild Izzy was just in for the Olympic year. Then when it stuck around it was Wilde Maus... and now it's in Tampa. I thought it was fun for what it was.

I have to admit, I'm kind of glad they toned down a few things because I couldn't ride DarKastle. It made me violently ill, I think it was that spin, so I only rode it the one time when it first opened. Then earlier this season I went on it with my first-timer friends, and it seemed a lot tamer, only made me a little queasy and I'm comfortable going on it now since I know I won't be sick-sick. That's 100% selfish on my part. I do agree about the fire and some of the other effects.

I can see that, but the loss of the pre-show really effects the show quality. "why is Ludwig so mad, who is Ludwig, why is he chasing me around?"

RE: Successor Project to the Big Bad Wolf

...Why is he saying that it's time to heat things up as he sends us into his garage? ;)

RE: Successor Project to the Big Bad Wolf

Yeah, DarKastle is not nearly as good as it was when it opened. I feel like all the "great changes" made after the first year were totally unnecessary and only made the ride a lot worse. I wish they would change some things back. And if you ride it for the first time, it doesn't make any sense at all.

Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Hey I'm starting this thread to start the discussion of the new multi launch coaster for 2012. What do you guys think it will be like? Will it be a world record breaker (height/speed)? Will it do more than 10 inversions? Maybe it will be similar to Sky Rocket at Kennywood? Will we get 3 launches? Will this be B&M's second launch coaster or will Intamin, S&S, or Premier Rides design it?

Personally, I believe this will be a Intamin launched coaster setting the record for something along the lines of speed or inversions.

RE: Multi-Launch Coaster in 2012

I voted for Intamin; however, I wish it would be an S&S or a Premier Rides, but I doubt it.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

OK, since I feel like an old woman and don't know what a launch coaster is, I had to research. Now I understand and WOW! When you spend 11 years raising kids, you kind of get out of the loop. Who knew that these things could be so fascinating? Modern Marvels to be sure. Can't wait to see what they come up with!

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

guys is this thread even necessary? i mean we know it won't be height. probably wont be speed. and our sister park right now is getting a multi launch coaster as we speak built by intamin. so its safe to say we already know with great detail what we are getting

Their hints said many "firsts"...

Personally, I believe this will be the second B&M launch setting the record for something along the lines of speed or inversions.

Even though the Incredible Hulk is a B&M coaster, i thought that they did not design the launch element. It'll probably be Intamin, but it could be B&M's 'First' Launch design.

And I doubt there will be lots of inversions. This ride needs to have a lower ride height and be accessible for younger riders like the BBW was. If you saw the 'preview' video for the BGT cheeta themed ride, I think that may fit the bill. Nothing too crazy, but crazy fun looking and fast.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

I would say probably Intamin, S&S, or maybe B&M. They said there would be lots of firsts :)
