what kind of smaller work is there to be done because land clearing there will probably be big there because with them being very organic to nature theyre still going to have to cut some trees down level the land and get everything prepared for construction which will take a while

RE: Successor Project to the Big Bad Wolf

i dont know. if what they said is what im reading, guests at the park can expect to see some progress but there is no real construction until the park closes. end of discussion...

if it was end of discussion we would already know all the details but we dont thats why this discussion carries on. so they cant do but so much when park closes because thats only about 12 hours

They'll get a lot done every day. After they actually broke ground on Griffon, it only took them a couple of months to construct it, and then they took a couple of months to test. If they can knock out a roller coaster in that time (which has much more ground work and electrical requirements), then throwing up a drop tower will be a piece of cake. Plus, this tower ride won't take nearly as long to test as a coaster.

RE: Successor Project to the Big Bad Wolf

Here are the details we've been waiting for. Obviously this is unconfirmed at this point, but it's very reliable information.

The drop tower will be enclosed at the base and will be located where Katapult currently is.

Katapult will be moving to where the Canadian Paladium currently is.

There will be a lot of remodeling of existing buildings in the area, Der Whirbelwind and Autobahn will be staying.

The addition of a pretzel market and "soccer game" in Oktoberfest in 2011.

2012 will see a "big coaster" going on the land once inhabited by Big Bad Wolf. The footers are there because the final plans have not been completed and they are unsure of the configuration of the new project.

RE: Successor Project to the Big Bad Wolf

Good, sounds good. Hopefully der autobahn will get a remodel. I love those things, favorite ride.

RE: Successor Project to the Big Bad Wolf

I want new cars with more power. (See Knoebels and Holiday World)

Great info Chris, thanks for posting. Since they are moving Katapult to the Palladium, I wonder what other plans they may have for New France? I actually liked Nora's suggestion about the alpine village theme. Anyway, since we were there last weekend and it is a 4 hr drive, we are going to miss Saturday's announcement, I will look forward to seeing what you post when all is said and done.

RE: Successor Project to the Big Bad Wolf

the only thing i question is the reason why BBW's footers are still in place. i've never heard of a new coaster using an old coasters footers before ever. my thought is the footers were left in place because they didn't want to tear up the ground until they knew what was going on

RE: Successor Project to the Big Bad Wolf

Yeah, they aren't using the old footers, they just don't want to pull them all up until they are certain how they'll need to grade the land for the new project. I guess it'll save a few bucks to just do all that work at one time rather than do it, then come back and possibly have to regrade the land again.

Besides, concrete cylinders and columns painted Green look super organic to the landscape. "Where the Wild Footers Are" will be my new kids book out next Spring. Just kidding.

Chris, your info sounds the most legit yet. I still had hoped the Swings were being moved back to their old spot where the Katipult is currently. Everything else sounds grand. Still, what on earth will they call the Katipult in New France? "Lumberjack Shuffle?" :p

We could all sing "I'm a lumberjack and I'm Ok" while riding it.

RE: Successor Project to the Big Bad Wolf

If I hear singing in New France next year, I guess I'll know who it is.
