Add on to that, the chance for the story to continue throughout the ride with the use of enclosed launches.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Intaride will definitely be doing the ride... I think we'll be getting a pre-launch drop into a little dark ride area kinda like blue fire, but I wouldnt be surprised if we were launched out the backside of the station into some kind of element that drops us over the rhine...

For everyone that is unclear about who Intaride is, it's Intamin's North American based company.

And, yeah, I think a drop over the Rhine will be happening also.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

I'm thinking that this will actually be the shortest coaster in the park, not just shorter than Griffon and AC. If this is IntaRide and we are getting a launch coaster, it probably won't be that tall, but it may have a drop that's steeper than Griffon. Just a thought...

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

well with the multi launch deal. im suspecting that one launch will send the coaster around the back side near festhaus park and the other sending it around the rhine river area

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

I voted Intamin (Intaride) due to the fact that that is who many believe is building BGT's new roller coaster (after they posted the teaser picture of the track piece), which sounds like it will be similar because they're both going to be "multi-launch" roller coasters. I don't see why they would built another multi-launch roller coaster the next year using a different manufacturer.

But all I can hope for is that if it does turn out to be Intamin, that if they use OTSRs, they aren't the same ones that Maverick uses (the typical, hard Intamin kind), but rather the ones that I305 put in after a couple of months of being open. However, if they have the lap bar kind Intamin uses, I don't mind them, but I don't know how many people will enjoy the feeling that they're going to fall out most of the time, especially if it is geared towards being somewhat "family friendly."

I had a thought when I read that Spain was a possibility. What about a themed ride to the Running of the Bulls? I'm hoping for something fast and smooth. Flying coasters are all right, depending on how they're set up. I much prefer like Superman at Six Flags Georgia to one like Nighthawk (formerly Borg, formerly something else long ago) at Carowinds. I really hope it will be a new coaster and not a moved coaster.

The Running of the Bulls idea is actually pretty good. If they did that though, I think it would have to be a launch coaster for it to be themed very well. I don't see a launch coaster being put in unless it was a hybrid B&M like Hulk at IOA (Universal Studio's Islands of Adventure) which would be just fine with me BTW. What ever they put in, it better not go over the Rhine River very far, because it would DESTROY the view.

A 4-D type of ride with a Running of the Bulls theme could probably be pretty good, but I'm thinking that they're going to want to add new types of attractions, I'm thinking the flyer rumor and the drop tower rumor are the most plausible at this time, but there's a reason they're just rumors still.

I don't think we have to worry about a coaster that's been used at another park. BGW builds new rides, I actually can't think of a ride in the park (outside of the carousel) that's been in use anywhere except the park.

I REALLY hope that it isn't another 4-D thing. I definitely feel that a flyer is most likely, but I don't want to see a drop tower. It just wouldn't fit with the park. An indoor launched free-fall ride would be pretty amazing though. I don't know why, but normal drop tower rides don't do much for me. I rode the one at KD just a few days ago, and it wasn't that amazing. You go up, then you come down. That's it.

I agree that we won't see a recycled coaster. It just doesn't happen at Busch parks (with the exception of the Wild Maus (is that what it was called?) which was moved to the Tampa Busch).

I agree...just another drop tower would be a letdown for sure (excuse the pun). I don't think they can match the creativity of Disney's Tower of Terror, but I think with the right storyline they can come up with an awesome experience. I think there are more aspects of theming that can be done with a drop tower ride, i.e. indoors, that have not been done before. For example, an elevator that is taking you down a mineshaft that goes awry. They could start off with making you think you are going down a mineshaft with the lights on when you are actually not going down at all through the use of special effects (i.e. the Haunted Mansion room stretching or Spiderman when you think you are going to the top of the building. Then you hear a sound like an electrical short (the powers gone out) and the lights go out...and after a few seconds you drop. Then at the bottom of the shaft you hear a rumbling, then an explosion and you see a fireball and feel heat and you shoot back up. That's just one of many possibilities. I am not sure who is in creative control working for the new owners of Busch; I'm wondering if they have the ability to create an imaginative storyline for this attraction and are able to make it an amazing reality.

A B&M launch could go with that theme, but I've heard that B&M refuses to do another launch coaster and I certainly would not want an Intamin in BGW.

How I understand it is that B&M refuses to make a launch coaster and has always been that way. Universal insisted on a launch coaster though, so B&M built the ride and a 3rd party did the launch. Though I have never been on the Hulk, I hear it is amazing, and it sure looks amazing. BTW: I DO NOT want an Intamin at Busch either, and I don't think there would ever be one coming either. You don't fix what doesn't need fixing, B&M and Busch produce amazing coasters, and have been doing it for a while now.

Well, I love B & M coasters too for their smoothness and amazing engineering. I actually worked on Apollo's Chariot for a season and it was a blast. But needless to say, I think Busch's new coaster in Tampa is Intamin and if that is true, they could have struck a multi-coaster deal. BGW's first two coasters were Arrow Dynamics, then the last three major coasters were B & W's, maybe they think it is time for a change. I don't personally care for Flying coasters and if Busch is looking for a coaster that runs more closely along the ground at high speeds with some great turns, i.e. Intimidator 305 at Kings Dominion, then Intamin might be their choice.

RE: Successor Project to the Big Bad Wolf

Wow, looks like you did some deep digging through the forums, eh?

I'm wondering why Lance from Screamscape posted awhile back that it was to be German-made, and if Mack, along the lines of Blue Fire. The brief announcement still leaves Mack as a possibility, but I really doubt it will happen.

I'm still not hopping on board the Intamin train (figuratively and literally), but mostly out of denial. It seems most likely that it will be IntaRide, but I know that the parks have gone with separate manufacturers before (e.g. Kumba/Drachen Fire and AC/Gwazi). I just detest the idea of having an Intamin creation on the spot of the late BBW.

Better than having an Arrow being replaced by a B&M or an S&S! That would be too ironic!

And nothing will ever live up to the Wolf, but they can at least try to be close!

RE: Successor Project to the Big Bad Wolf

I'll have to agree. A multi-coaster deal is "par for the course" as they say for Busch. I'm still hoping for another B&M though. I've never ridden a rough B&M. I'm not a gonzo 47G-lovin uber inversions kinda fan. I love Apollo, that thing is just a good time and screams quality.

RE: Successor Project to the Big Bad Wolf

i've noticed with intamin over the years their rides are either magnificent or terrible. best example at BGW for me would be comparing RR and escape from pompeii. RR has almost no problems and escape is just god awful to operate. i know they arent coasters but its the experience i've had with intamin

RE: Successor Project to the Big Bad Wolf

here's a question. If they are making an intamin coaster, why did they go with a moser tower?

RE: Successor Project to the Big Bad Wolf

Exactly Fur Dozy. I have a hypothesis: It has long been suspected that SWP&E has a contract with B&M saying that they can't build within a set number of miles of any SWP&E park. Is it too unreasonable to think that to counter this, CF did the same thing with Intamin? Not choosing an Intamin tower just seems a little (ok, very) odd.

RE: Successor Project to the Big Bad Wolf

So I got caught up on his use of the word electromagnetic in the announcement. I started thinking, I wonder if anyone has talked about doing a maglev powered roller coaster. I doubt very highly that our coaster will be a maglev train but that would be one heck of a first. That's got to be where roller coasters will be headed some day, but i don't think they have the technology to do it right yet.

RE: Successor Project to the Big Bad Wolf

That is one crazy idea pandora. :D

Anyway, I think it is worth noting that the only B&M launch coaster ever made was launched with friction wheels. Unless B&M has something big up their sleeves, this fact alone may very well rule out a B&M (assuming there was any doubt left in anyone's minds).

The manufactures who use electromagnetic launch systems are Vekoma Industries, Intamin AG, Premier Rides, Maurer Söhne, Gerstlauer, and MACK Rides. After Rip Ride Rocket, I think we can take Maurer off of the list. I'd also doubt we will get anything launched from Vekoma. That leaves Intamin, Premier, Gerstlauer, and MACK. If the rumor that Screamscape heard is correct, it will be from a German company. If so, we are looking at Gerstlauer or MACK. Either of which I'm fine with.

If it seems like I may be stretching this, it is because I probably am. I just really don't want to believe that we could be getting an Intamin at the park...

RE: Successor Project to the Big Bad Wolf

I Wouldn't mind premiere as well. They did the mummy ride at universal.

RE: Successor Project to the Big Bad Wolf

I've really liked all of the Premiere rides I've been on. Skyrocket at Kennywood looks very unique as well.

RE: Successor Project to the Big Bad Wolf

i think the reason why intamin isnt building the drop tower is because BGW didn't want to have a copy of the same drop tower at Kd and instead are going with a more original attraction

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

If they use over the sholder restraints I hope they use the strps that Intimidator 305 has.
