Yes, the kicker is it was all a ruse. I spent weeks on a proposal and never had a shot, Busch knew who they were going to use from the beginning.

Here are the official opening dates for some of their rides (according to RCDB)

Alpengeist: 3/22/1997
Apollo's Chariot: 3/27/1999
Griffon: 5/18/2007
Grover's: 4/3/2009
Big Bad Wolf: 6/15/1984
Drachen Fire: 4/4/1992

Looking from just this batch of names only griffon and BBW didn't open in march or april.

Does anybody know the exact date when the Loch Ness Monster opened in 1978?

Interesting occurrence at the Ace Q&A. Someone asked Carl Lum the name of the 2012 attraction and his answer was he couldn't say. Later someone asked Mark Spirtz the same question and he answered immediately Verbolten. That tells me for sure Verbolten is not the name.

So I got bad news today about the project so I guess I will talk about what I know to be true. The schedule, this is the tentative schedule that was issued;

The sfx building (building 80) foundation 5/31/11, floor slab 6/16/11, building erection 10/25/11 so we have to wait until Hollowscream to see the building. This building is slam full of stuff, lights, sounds, effects.

The station; selective demo 6/28/11, station reconstruction 9/7/11, theming 11/30/11. The theming is really nice.

The ride; ride fabrication 5/2/11, (where does Zierer build their track? Zierer is the manufacturer) deliver event building track 9/26/11, ride install inside sfx building 9/27/11, deliver remaining track 11/1/11, ride install outside 11/2/11, deliver 1st train 12/15/11, deliver remaining trains 1/16/12, startup and test 2/9/12. The schedule is very aggressive and the intent is to have the ride ready for opening day.

I've heard a couple numbers for the budget, lowest 51 million highest 54 million. We may never know the exact number but it is a huge amount.

I don't think the name is Elementum or Verbolten. I think they've kept the name totally secret, only a few people actually know it. I don't think they are flip flopping on the name like Cheetah hunt, the theming is too specific. The theming is great and I have a few ideas to the story but they are only guesses from what I've seen. They kept the actual theming details pretty vague.

I've seen a lot of the details to this ride and I think it will be really great, not the ultimate thrill ride but something really special and totally different.

Can you confirm how many trains there will be in total?

Five are shown, but that may just be a representation and not the actual number. There is something on the trains that require power, there are battery charging stations for the "ride system video batteries" for the trains.

Oh.....very fancy.....i'm glad I asked about the trains. I wonder what in the world that could be about....

Guys I know that we've kind of ended the discussion about Elementum (named because it has a cool element), but that's as lazy as calling:

Loch Ness Monster=Loopum
Alpengeist=Invertum
Apollo's Chariot=Droppum
Griffon=Dive-um
Grover's Alpine Express=Smallum

This is why I doubt we won't be seeing a coaster called Elementum at any Busch park. :p

We might as well throw Mach Tower and Europe in the Air in there as well...

haha, i actually like Mach Tower quite a bit. And Europe in the Air is kinda cute.

But i almost threw up when Busch sent out that survey about the 2012 coaster. I dont HATE Verbolten. I kinda think it's clever and it definitely fits in with a Black Forest theme.

Barely, They could have named it "Ach-Tongue" (a play on the word "Achtung") and it would have made just as much sense. : /

As far as ride names go: Mach Tower is alright, though I think having the word "tower" in it is a little cliched; and Europe In the Air is "exactly what it says on the tin" so yea... you get what you pay for. : /

Just wondering... How does Verbolten fit with the black forest theme?

@GriffonRox, @Arrow: Beacause Verboten in German means Forbidden. The Black Forest is, indeed, forbidden. Putting in the "l" turns it in a nice play on words that not only echoes the Black Forest theme but also tells the riders about what to expect. "Bolt" for a launch coaster is certainly appropriate.
