Man I hope this ride is better than Im envisioning. You know, the whole "family coaster" deal is disturbing. What an excellent opportunity to use that awesome terrain to do something Big and Bad (no pun intended), and to 'waste' it on a "family coaster"? Use Drachen Fire's old space for that trash.

The Big Bad Wolf was a family coaster, I think you're confusing "family coaster" with "kiddie coaster". If anything, the space would be waisted if they built something like the Griffon or Intimidator on that spot. I believe the space is being used well. (Not the way I hoped it would be used for but still, well.)

Fair enough. Well perhaps someone can enlighten me. What exactly does "family coaster" mean? I imagine it means "not too fast, not too steep, not too intense..."

A coaster that the whole family can enjoy. Most of the family members can ride it and it's not too extreme but thrilling enough that everyone can enjoy it.

Exactly.

Think of the Big Bad Wolf. (the best example I could think of)

The Wolf was able to be a pretty hard core coaster with it's twists, turns, speed, and final drop. The coaster didn't need inversions, high heights, or high speeds to be thrilling. The Wolf was enjoyed by kids, adults, hard-core coaster riders, and the not so hard-core riders! It was a coaster for everyone!

Well said ArrowWolf, I think what it will come down to for a "family coaster" is the height requirement. BBW was 42" which was very short for a coaster of that caliber.

Exactly. And if those "gnarly hands" actually try and trap the train and then the track drops that will be way scarier for any child than the BBW.

So:
Faster (if launches are comparable to Wicked, etc)
Taller
Bigger drop
Haunted dark ride elements
Freefall track section
"Gnarly hands"
Longer

I think that this is definitely more thrilling but I do think that it will LOOK less intimidating than the BBW

EDIT:
Screamscape is back up!

Sweet! I like it...but is it wrong that all I can think of is how we're going to nickname it

I mean:
Loch Ness Monster=Loch Ness/Nessie
Apollo's Chariot=Apollo
Alpengeist=well, Alpengeist
Griffron=obviously, Griffon
Curse of DarKastle=DarKastle
Europe in the Air=EiTa
Elementum=????

Alpengeist= Alpie (I've been calling it that forever and it is catching on a bit whenever I visit BGW)

-Yes, Screamscape is back up as of last night (around 11:00 pm, lol).
--I was just kidding about them having sponsorship from VW and BMW... When I caught a glimpse of the station artwork before screamscape crashed I saw that the trains looked like the front of a VW Golf or Jetta. I know Busch wouldn't sell out like that.
---Elementum... hmmm. Neat name, but I don't think it's fitting for this ride (this coming from the guy who has Green Lantern, El Toro, Nitro, Bizarro and Batman in his ex-home park).
