There are plenty of launch coasters that are less than 95 feet.

But, given the history of the park's coaster additions (same designers for each pair most of the time), it wouldn't be unreasonable to anticipate the coaster being an Intamin. Especially given the basic layout and information about Cheetah Hunt when compared to what is publicly known about the 2012 coaster.

It wouldn't be unreasonable, but it wouldn't necessarily be a correct assumption.

I definitely think it'll be about 95 feet tall...I mean if you think about it, why would they advertise that Mach Tower is the tallest ride in the park then go and build a coaster taller than that less than a year later (going back to the 300ft rumor). I also HIGHLY believe this coaster will be an Intamin.

Remember: This is replacing the Big Bad Wolf. I don't think that Intamin is even capable of building a family coaster, let alone a launched one.

I think we can expect an Intamin launch coaster, but seeing that Larry Giles himself said at the passholder meeting "It will have many firsts" I don't think that it will be anything like cheetah hunt other than it being an Intamin launch coaster.

What i meant earlier was that maybe we missed something

I am really hoping that this isn't an Intamin; I think the results will be less than desirable if it is. That being said, I do think it will be Intamin as of right now. I always take statements like "this ride will have many firsts" with a grain of salt as most coasters are advertised that way. Griffon had lots of firsts as well, but other than the floorless trains, the "firsts" were rather lackluster in my opinion. I'm not saying the ride won't have anything unique, but I won't be getting my hopes up too much for that. Seeing as how this will replace the BBW, I can't imagine Busch building anything taller than the Wolf: 99 feet. I suspect it would be in the range of 95, because it makes sense. It would be ridiculous for Busch to demolish the most family friendly, true roller coaster in the park and replace it with a Giga, especially since they are making such a concerted effort to make everything "KIDsiderate." I don't think BGW will ever build anything 300 feet tall anyway.

Just one question for everyone. I know that James County puts the color restrictions on anything higher than 60 feet, so does that doom Project 2012 to a blue or white color? I'm not sure if this has been discussed, but that would be a real downer if it did restrict it. I hope it's red in honor of the Wolf.

Unfortunately, being an employee of Busch, i know some of the details but i cant give anything away

Also...I might've missed it, but was there ever a rumor of this being a family coaster?

I'm pretty sure there was a brief rumor of a family coaster with a top hat element, like a spinner.

I mean I know the whole possible 2014 coaster had a rumor that it would be family friendly if 2012 isn't...but to be perfectly honest, i don't really Think that a family launch coaster is entirely possible IMO

Anything that has an LSM launch is generally considered family friendly. Those launches are much more gradual than the intensity of LIMs. I think family launchers are definitely possible. I've known people who loved Powder Keg and their kids loved it, too. California Screamin' is another example of a family launch coaster that is popular, and that's an Intamin. The question is, will the coaster be fun for all ages, like the aforementioned rides, or will it inspire mixed reviews, like Pony Express at Knott's? Remember, family friendly doesn't mean it's good for little kids, even though BBW was. I was riding LNM by the time I was 7, and Project 2012 will not be as tall or as fast as that.

I didn't know there were different kinds of launches (I only really know BGW, Disney, and Universal rides...haven't been anywhere else besides those). But i also think it depends on how they advertise it, theming, and the overall ride itself to see if it is family friendly...but the only thing wrong with ll of this speculation is that we may be getting far away from what the ride will really be...or closer...we don't know and I'm kind of getting anxious about there final announcement so we know what is going on

I was just reading through the first few pages of this thread again and saw this:

According to my sources....you're all wrong. "Its gonna change the game in the park the way Darkastle did". It will cost about $51 million, and will be a hybrid of sorts....it will be announced in 2011 and should open in 2012...after the BGT project.

Anyone think that this could still be the case? So far the timeline is right...

Grover is family friendly. Has a launch system... a slow one, but nonetheless.

That's interesting to think about, Swift. I would like to think this is true, but there have been an awful lot of rumors circulating around this ride. This is the first I've heard of this. It seems odd for BGW to make a major financial expansion when BGT is adding a pretty standard expansion as far as cost goes. I was just looking at Cheetah Hunt's stats though, and, unless this BGW ride is truly an entirely different animal from Cheetah Hunt, such as the 1999 expansion, it seems odd to think that Project 2012 wouldn't be taller than Cheetah Hunt, which is listed at 102 feet. Of course, it wouldn't be substantially taller, but generally BGW likes to make the coasters about five to ten feet taller than the sister coaster.

True that...but I mean more of what people (the general public) are expecting. I think that if Busch were to be like "hey guys were building a family friendly multiple-launch coaster!" the public will either be confused or upset

I don't think there has been any time given for an announcement nor would I expect anything before August. It won't matter what the ride is there will be mixed reviews, it will either be too family friendly or too intense, not intense enough or you have to be too tall so it's not kid friendly. There will be complaints, I've been reading the forums on Cheetah Hunt, people are already complaining its too slow and they are just doing testing. If you look back through this thread, there is no way this ride can possibly live up to some of the expectations; moving on to a platform pointing straight up and launching 300' into the air and stopping, really? I bet NASA would love to be able to do that. I believe this will be a very different attraction that no one is expecting, but at the same time a really excellent experience.

I think that would interest the public. For the most part, family friendly launch coasters have garnered praise and success. Most of the GP won't know what the heck BGW is talking about, but it doesn't matter. All most people will hear is, "We're adding a new ... roller coaster!" All the other stuff will go right over their heads, but people will still line up for it. Most people will not be upset at all by news of a new attraction.
