The way I see it, the Rhine River Cruise doesn't have the capacity to be a reasonable transport ride. The boats, as said, take a while to load, sometimes 5 or more minutes. Add that to the fact the boats themselves don't move all too fast, and require a lot of maneuvering to get into the dock, which takes more time. And, they don't hold very many people to justify the slowness. I'm not sure the exact number, but I think each boat can only hold around 30 people or so. Then there's the distance. The boats would not be traveling very far to get to where ever they want to go, meaning a person could walk there way faster than the time it would take for them to get on a boat. A boat system might work if the Rhine River was bigger, but it's just too small.

The whole point of a transport ride is to cover a large distance faster than you could walk, while taking as many people as possible. Both the skyride and the train cover a lot of territory. The skyride may not hold many people per car, but the fact they they can pump a car out of the station every 20 seconds or so, makes up for that. And the train may take some time to load, but it holds hundreds of people.

My 2 cents on the parking garage, eehhhh, I'm not really for it. Garages are kinda ugly, and when you get alot of people leaving them at once, it can lead to some really long, annoying backups. (Which Busch has already.) The parking situation at our Busch is so much different than other theme parks, because our lots are split up, while other theme parks are just a giant ocean of pavement. This makes it seem bad for us, but I don't see much of a solution considering we can't cross Rte 60.

Regarding charging people to get into concerts/special events. No. (Insert everything James said here.) This would not work, at all. It would create a huge line to get in, and discourage people from attending at all. It would just be an unnecessary hassle that no other amusement park, that I'm aware of, does.

I think I'm done, for now.

Boats are an outstanding form of transport. Certain other park companies use them as a main source for transport. I suggest taking a good look at what other parks do and how well things have worked for them prior to writing a certain form out.

A transport ride is not so much for a quicker route but rather a way to relax while getting to the location at which you wish to be. A boat in particular would be seen as one of the more relaxing, enjoyable, and smooth methods. It would also be my top pick if I was looking to relax en route to a destination. There are not any "non-viable" expansion ideas as far as the park goes. If they want something then they will make it happen.

A transport ride just has to move people from one place to another while keeping them off the paths (EDIT: Scoutn beat me to it). Also, you tell me which way you would rather take (especially on a busy day):

I think a two story parking garage where the Scotland parking lot is would be just fine. The area already looks bad because of the AB plant right across the street.

Actually, King's Dominion charges a boatload for their concerts. It's definably done.

They get decent artists so they are forced to. Quote this before I edit it out. That is one thing KD did right... Concerts.

In my opinion, it's not enough distance to justify building another dock, and making guests still walk up a hill. It may be more direct, but after waiting in line, waiting for the boat to load, getting to the other dock and wait for the OTHER boat to load/unload, it would probably take all of 20min to cover ~500ft. All of this I could cover in a little more than 5min even on a busy day.(Cutting through the gift shop ftw.) Without factoring in relaxation (What good that would be considering distance it would be covering.[Also, you still have to go up a large hill.]), It just doesn't seem practical to me. Other parks such as Epcot, Universal Resort, and several other parts of the Disney resort can justify using boats as transportation because they're going across larger lakes and distances than the boats would at Busch.

Kings Dominion's venue isn't physically in the park, so they can charge you separately all they want without much hassle. At Busch, everyone is already in the park when they get to the area where the concerts are. Suddenly stopping them and charging them once they get to the RPT or Festhaus Park would lead to huge lines, and frustrated patrons.

Ok, then sell tickets at the front gate. Same difference.

They still need to get into the park, and pay for admission, to the park. They might as well just pay for regular entrance admission. I see no problem with having concerts simply being free with park admission. If you're there exclusively for the concert, and don't have a pass, too bad, you might as well pay full admission and make a day in park out of it. (aka, how Busch uses concerts to make a profit in the first place.)

Also, sorry for helping derail this thread into something a bit off topic.

Orange for new pastures and red for a new country:

It looks like they could do a bit of land clearing and end up with about the same amount of room they have now...

PS: Sorry for the terrible map. I'm in a rush.

Only thing wrong about this map is where you see trees in the orange area is actually ravines and steep slopes leading to the river. So that land can't be cleared to be used as a pasture.

And I don't think they would but countries and stations up like that. I know the Scotland and Italy Stations are kinda close, but not like what you've drawn. Lastly the trees in the top of the red area are actually part of the Italian Train station, There across the tracks.

My random two cents on charging for events in RPT: they used to. It was general admission. If I remember right, you bought tickets at a Guest Relations building where Trappers is now (Trappers was across the path at the building where you get funnel cakes and popcorn now, and you walked up to the counter and ordered. You want to talk about lines-was. a. nightmare). We paid for and saw Crystal Gayle. It was packed.

We also paid for a Chipmunks show, where I fondly remember it being well into upper 90 degrees and seeing Theodore faint on stage, then being dragged off. Screaming children, myself included, everywhere. It was awfully chaotic.

So it can be done. It has been done.

How much of the area on the Italy side of the tracks is currently used?

As my previous post stated, Festa Station would be closed. It's by far the worst station in the park.

Again Basically all the trees in that map are on slopes leading into the river. The land you see cleared is all the flat land there is.

I meant on the other side. The latest Google Maps images don't seem to have the fences visible...

You would still have a butting up problem where the two countries would basically stack on top each other.

All you need to separate countries is some kind of barrier. Gateways, bridges, trees, etc. all work great. A bridge over the train tracks where Festa Station currently is and the hill on the other side would be that barrier.

Thats what im saying youd have to have some sort of break, I mean even Scotland and England have a break(Overpass thing)

I know you'll are probably getting tired of my terrible maps/drawings but here's how Festa and this concept country would be divided (red box is the bridge):

It would go over the service road and the train tracks. I think that's plenty of room.
