I like it. I would be pretty upset if they tried resurrecting some lame phrase for naming a coaster. Most of the time if it has "of the" in the name, then that just tells me the creative team has run out of ideas. Verbolten has a nice sound to it, and more importantly, it sounds German. Whether it is or isn't won't matter to the GP because they don't take the time to look these things up. I'm happy that we didn't end up with something that actually is a crappy name....like Cheetah Hunt.

And I'm also happy the park didn't try to reminisce and go with anything that uses the phrase "Big Bad Wolf." C'mon, I know we're feeling nostalgic and all, but it's time to let it go.

I didn't really want a name that exactly mentioned "The Big Bad Wolf" but I kinda wanted something wolf related to sort of carry the legacy as well as continuing BGW's small wolf motif (Wolf Valley, DarKastle, BBW,...). I remember Nora coming up with some awesome German style Wolf names in an older thread.

Are we reading the same name?

It sounds like some name that a traveling fair would use fly by night coaster.

I'm just stating what I have to say out of the options we were given back when the survey went out awhile ago. Could they have come up with a better name? Probably. But from what we knew was actually plausible it was the best sounding of the bunch.

Also, we're still not completely sure on what the hell this thing is gonna be themed after. Maybe after they announce that, it'll fit better.

And you gotta admit, Cheetah Hunt is a crappy name. (With a crappy logo I might add.)

It goes with a lot of the names there. Rhino Rally, Scorpion, Python (now defunct).

Difference opinion I guess. Sure it fits with the African theme, but for some reason Scorpion, Python, Montu, Sheikra, and Kumba roll off the tounge better, simply sound a lot better and more menacing then Cheetah Hunt does. Plus the wording makes it sound like we're going to be hunting cheetahs, which is kinda messed up. (Unless the whole thing is from a hunter's pov.)

Simple logic says that you are not hunting the Cheetah. I think people who see it as you are have a poacher deep down inside of them

jkjk ;)

Stanley Falls Flume, Tanganyika Tidal Wave, and Serengeti Express are all of the same substance of this new name.

Seriously though, once you visit that park you get why it fits in. I have been there ~3 times a year in the past 10 years so I guess it fits to me.

Ah, there's the problem. I've only been going there 3 times a year for the past 6 years. My bad. ;)

Gotta tighten up on that, shoulda been there earlier than 6 years ago :D

Honestly, I could care less. Whatever it's called, we'll all get used to.

However, what I don't get about the name is that it's just gibberish. It doesn't mean anything. I mean I guess they're going for something like "forbidden lightning" or whatever, but good grief they couldn't have come up with a real name? (like "Verboten Blitz," which literally means forbidden lightning?)

There are a million good German names/phrases they could have used, but the decided to go the route of just inventing a name out of thin air? Just seems so hollow. All the other coasters have such rich theming and mythology. What will the "history" behind Verbolten be? Nothing, because they just made it up. Seems so uncreative and lazy for Busch.

Well, whatever.

Shafor hit it on the head. The name sounds fine, but it's just hollow and meaningless.

About Cheetah Hunt's name, I hate it too.

Another thing I'd like to point out:

If Shafor is right and they are trying to make some sort of association with lightning just because it's a launching coaster and is (presumably) going to be fast; naming things "lightning" because they are fast has been cliched to death! They seriously can't think of anything more creative and original than that?
