About the lying, what exactly was said? Did they say "the new coaster will be this this and this" or did they say "the coaster might be this this and this"? Or some variation to this affect. I have to believe it's like politicians speaking, they do a whole lot of talking but in the end they haven't really said or disclosed anything definitive. Someone said this earlier, but I think they were just fishing for reactions to the idea of a 300 foot coaster.
This was my thought all along. Orientation presenters have no idea what this coaster will look like, their job is to present park policies and welcome people to the company. They were probably just making off the cuff remarks about what it could be.

Wait... so is it 80 or 300 feet? It's been comfirmed, but I can't find the comfirmation.

By the way, BBW carried a smaller hight limit, so families could ride it. I'm not so sure a 300 ft. monster would be for families...:p

Nothing is confirmed.

Newsie, how do you explain Carl Lum's involvement? I don't remember any of the people I've talked to saying that HE said 300ft, but I've heard from multiple people that he talked about the tilt-section and upward launch. I'm going on what the park has said, you are going on what you think the park would do. The two are not currently compatible.

Only thing I refuse to believe is the 300ft. part of the rumor. While the tilt section and stuff sounds far fetched, it's possible without involving such a height.

This is what I think may have happened. Carl Lum was in the room when a new hire asked about the coaster and a response from the presenter could have been off the cuff like "Well, we don't know much about it yet. It could be 300 ft tall or something for all I know." Since there's no certainty in the presenter's answer, there's no reason for him to deny it and to only be amused.

I respect this idea

Most everyone I've heard from agrees that it was spoken of with full certainty from both the presenters and, at least once or twice, from Carl Lum himself. The only one I've heard anything different from is Anonymous. I have a basis for what I currently believe, my question to you is, do you? The only reason I've heard that attempts to defend an alternative point of view is: "This is Busch Gardens" That isn't an argument.

What did people in the industry think when they heard that a little park in Williamsburg, VA was going to build the world's tallest and fastest coaster? That little park in Williamsburg stole the title for the tallest coaster on the planet from a park in California known as Magic Mountain (maybe you've heard of it). Busch Gardens is one of the most daring parks out there today (and always has been). Don't count them out just because they haven't done it before. I suppose they shouldn't of put in one of the best Arrow coasters ever created because the coaster they put in just two years before was a 44 foot tall Schwarzkopf Wildcat. Maybe BGT shouldn't of contracted a brand new company known as B&M to build what is still considered by many today a "Top 10" coaster. Hopefully I've made my point well enough by now.

Now, please, someone give me some kind of evidence that would convince me otherwise. I'm really trying to be open minded, but I have yet to see anything that points in a different direction than the one I'm currently looking in. I've been wrong before and I very well could be wrong again. I only ask for someone to show me the error(s) in my reasoning.

EDIT: Wow, Youhow just summarized my entire post in one sentence before I even posted it. Creepy.

Well for some reason I can't figure out how to quote someone but... In one thread its said:

So I have it on good authority that the ride isnt gonna be anything like we are hearing... No 300ftness, No stall before the drop, No turntable... Pretty much a cheetah hunt pt 2....

Then everyone seems to concede that 300 feet and all the other stuff is way over the top. Then everyone starts jumping back on the 300 foot tall again. About the height waiver, BG went to the board and got a waiver for 95 feet, you're telling me they are going to go back to the board and say; oops we made a mistake we really meant 300 feet? How is that going to look in the eyes of the public, public being everyone not us. Don't get me wrong I would love the idea and hold out some hope but in the reality I can't see how it can possibly happen. Kingsmill and Colonial Williamsburg would freak. I think the new coaster will be something amazing, rarely has Busch Gardens let us down, I just don't think you are going to see an LSM coaster that launches you straight up 300 feet. That's just a bit off the realistic scale. However, if I'm wrong I will be first in line!

The sources of which the info has came from what I have gather, some above your standard employee I doubt would be wrong. I believe there also is more than one launch section. If that is the case then I see it as every bit as possible. Swift's point up there is a BEYOND great representation of Busch and the chances they have taken. A lot of us that post on here regularly were too young at the time to recall the changes. I am more than sure enough to say that had we been old enough and lucky enough to have the community Chris has provided for us we would have been saying the same thing about those coasters as we are this one as far as doubting it goes.

As far as the permit goes, they could have very well been planning this, after all it is very early to be getting a permit. I figure they wanted to get a jump on building the event building and such, but didn't want to show their hand this early. The permit never mentions the coaster in any primary way. It only mentions the buildings. they will still need a permit for the actual coaster, but it is possible, but not plausible, that they planned it all along. The risk is that the permit gets turned down after they have made accommodations for the coaster. This is why I wouldn't expect this to be the case, unless they know the JCC council very well.

Just food for thought...

As for the permit, I'd direct you back to the second half of this post. If I sound prideful, I'm not trying to be. I just don't see a reason in retyping what I've already said.

The drop on machtower is 245 feet, but the components of the tower extend and extra 15 or more depending on the case...

I'm a few states away, so I have no contacts there, but what you posted makes perfect sense to me. I'm just keeping an open mind and will wait and see what is built.

I was perusing the letters from JCC to the park regarding the 2012 attraction and came across something that may or may not be interesting. If you look at the letter, scrolling down to 9d, you'll notice the following sentence:

Provide information related to the work as proposed in the amphitheater area.

Am I missing something? What amphitheater could they be referring to? Festhaus Park?

Update:

#13 refers to a "Proposed Amphitheater area", looks like we may be getting a small new theater.

I wonder if it would be maybe some type of new show or a place for the "street performers" if it is just something for some kind of street performance I would bet it would go near the Beer Garden

If you read further down I think i found out what the amphitheater construction is:
18. Maintenance Access Road. Along the eastern side of the project site, where the maintenance road is proposed to be relocated, the grading plan should be revised to promote positive drainage to the proposed ditch as shown along the southern edge of the road in lieu of the north as currently shown. This will assist with the stabilization of the slopes to the north and reduce runoff to the ravine which is currently eroding.

Looks like Project 2012 will creep over into Festhaus Park so drainage needs to be reworked.

Another thing mentioned by Shafor is that the park has made vague references to a "stage" that would be built in the area to go with the remodel, which would go with michaelcollier1's idea. Could be in reference to this "stage", or it could be Festhaus Park grading as James pointed out. Both are plausible.

I specifically remember Scott Gasparach saying that there would be a new stage with a new show that you could watch while sitting in the beer garden. Now, that could mean anything. Could be a 4 ft wide platform with some dude playing an accordion on it. Or it could be something huge. They haven't really said much about it. But this could be the ampitheater that's being reference.
