If this coaster was to have a 300+ ft. drop close to the Rhine River, simular to the BBW drop but larger, it could be secluded enough to only be seen by golfers on the Kingsmill greens. If you all remember the location and time frame of Drachen Fire, almost that entire coaster was hidden from Kingsmill, and it was much closer to Kingsmill then where BBW lived.

If it is 300ft, Intamin is the only manufacturer who is crazy enough to take on a Giga-launcher? Man that sounds crazy...

While thats true, the distance was only about 100 yards closer.

I'm not ready to believe it is a 300ft coaster. I believe they've told the employees this to get this rumor out there for either a misinformation campaign or to put out feelers about a possible 300ft coaster in the future.

Just to restate something I said last night:
King's Dominion kept their giga coaster under wraps until July 20th when someone took a picture of a shipping label on a box of bolts. Apparently, keeping things like this a secret is possible...

IN case you guys can't tell, I'm not taking a position on the subject. I'm just letting you guys know the facts, and the probabilities. If I say something probably won't happen, you can take it for what it is. Note that I haven't disowned this rumor...yet.

I dont know whether I think 300 foot or plus will happen, but you guys are making some good points.

They may very well have lied to us about the 300 ft thing, but the instructor confirmed that the 95ft permit was incorrect..the 95ft part anyway. I can't see them lying to us about both. Lying about a height restriction doesn't gain anything and it just makes the park look like... bunch of liars.

I have a though time believing that the figure 300 was even stated in an orientation, I really do. And why would the park "lie" about the 95 ft. height waiver or state that it is incorrect? Do you realize how much trouble the park could get itself into with James City County after they already approved it? I just don't believe it.

Not to be cynical, but I think those that believe in this 300 ft. tall coaster are delusional in a sense. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Busch Gardens we're talking about. They have no reason to compete with Kings Dominion with a 300 ft. coaster since they have two completely different target markets. It's just not going to happen. If it does, I'll eat my shorts, but as of now this radical speculation is getting out of hand.

End rant.

I do believe this stuff was said. But like I said I'm just unsure of their motives for telling all this at a new employee orientation. Is that SOP for bgw?

If I was in charge and trying to keep my exciting new coaster secret I wouldn't start by giving valuable info to new hires. If I was cunning enough, knowing that some people aren't able to keep secrets, I would tell everyone something different from the truth, to get some rumors out there and get people talking about the park.

I can GUARANTEE it was said. At least one of the sources is 100% reliable. This person would have no reason to lie to us about this. Also the fact that we kept at least one source silent till it was confirmed by yet another unrelated source. There is no way that this didn't happen, you'll just have to come to terms with that.

I'm in the same boat as Fur Dozy: I can't imagine a 300ft coaster at Busch Gardens; however, I also just can't think of a reason to lie to a room full of employees and then say (as Anonymous said) that the 95ft height waver was "Incorrect" when asked about it. Also, I'd like to direct you back to this post. There have been 3 or 4 independent sources who have come out so far to confirm what was said. What more do you want? I just don't understand how anyone could still not be convinced that 300/300+ was stated at the meeting.

Not to be cynical, but I think those that believe in this 300 ft. tall coaster are delusional in a sense.
Well Newsie, you know what, that sounds pretty cynical to me. I know what was said in that meeting. If you don't believe it by now, what's it going to take?

EDIT: Thank you Fur Dozy.

Is it quite possible that the 300ft. figure is actually the length of a launch and not the height?

Not at all. This is why I just can't wrap my head around it. New Hire orientation is just that. They go over park policies and an overview of the company and that's about it.

No, it isn't. As I stated before, right after the number 300 was stated for the height on the coaster, someone asked how this was possible when the height waiver that was filed was only for 95ft. The response from the instructor (while Mr. Lum was in the room) was "That is incorrect."

Note that this will be an electro magnetic launch, not hydraulic catapult launch. I might be wrong, but I think it would be the tallest coaster of it's type if it were 300+.

I clearly remember the man saying that the 300ft idea was just one possible idea for the coaster, so the 300ft is not confirmed. but he did confirm that the 95ft part was incorrect. And as for Carl Lum being in the room (which swift keeps bringing up) He had walked out by the time the 2012 coaster was being discussed. He walked in at the beginning of connections and said who he was and what he did and that there was going to be a 2012 coaster and then he left. It was probably a good 30 minutes before the instructor mentioned anything about it. and if he did lie in front of other higher up employees I'm sure it was planned.

Someone else said that Carl Lum was in the room at the time. Anyone know how many different orientation sessions actually happened?

A lot. They have them scheduled throughout the day at this time during the year.
