I can't shake the feeling that something has changed with the park, a switch of some kind has been turned off.

Yea, BlackStone Group buying Busch Entertainment! I'm afraid it's the end of an era... *sigh* at least we'll have our memories. :-/

I know i hate how they hire a whole bunch of people that dont care about the park when theres an entire site of people that would work for little to nothing.

Thats a bunch of crap. No matter your opinions, I can tell you... the people who come up with this DO care about the park. They may have a vision that is different than you, but they still care about the park. Does anyone think, maybe the park is moving away from the 17th century “Old Country” and more into a modern Europe version. It looks like they are trying to become a new type of theme park, where theme is incredible and instrumental... but they have more aspects of a modern amusement park that places like Disney lack. So... Islands of Adventure Lite.

No, No, No, No, i wasnt talking about those people i was talking about the lower people like SOME of the ride ops, janitors, etc. also i agree with you with them going twoard modern europe.

First off, welcome to the forums.

I hope you're correct, it just seems odd that they'd put two names onto a list of four that focus so heavily on the Autobahn.
The park is built around folklore, legends, and culture.
Yes, this is true, however, they have shown that they are also willing to deviate from that. Europe in the Air replaced a ride with a great storyline and amazing theming with a glorified screensaver. The Mach Tower had a chance to have a nice story line and instead they're just putting in a new flat ride. I can't shake the feeling that something has changed with the park, a switch of some kind has been turned off.

Thank you! And yes, I unfortunately feel the same. Maybe I'm missing something, but I just can't believe that Tampa will be welcoming a ride named Cheetah Hunt next year. Okay. So maybe Cheetaka was met with some sort of dispute that required it not be used. So be it. But Cheetah Hunt? Is that truly the best they could do? I'm reminded, at best, of the terrible theme transition between the Paramount Parks and Cedar Fair... With "Top Gun: The Jet Coaster" being renamed "Flight Deck;" "Drop Zone: Stunt Tower" being re-branded, or perhaps I should say de-branded, as "The Drop Tower;" "The Italian Job: Stunt Track" as "Back Lot Stunt Coaster;" "Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle" renamed "Boo Blasters on Boo Hill," and more...

I see very much what you mean. I just hope to the high heavens that these surveys are actually being looked at, and aren't just to appease fans. I can't imagine Uber Bahn or Black Forest Turbo (a strange combination of highway / forest theme? Huh?) garnering any support. Hopefully, that shows through and they choose appropriately. The very thought that the park might try to market a roller coaster called "Uber Bahn" is particularly laughable. It's an idiotic name. And though it's not a huge deal, Kings Dominion just opened a racing-themed coaster, and already had The Italian Job: Turbo Coaster. I can't imagine a potential "Uber Bahn" being much different than a glorified Italian Job.

Basically, I think that this ride will be make-it-or-break-it in many ways. I have no doubt that the roller coaster itself will be fun. But this is truly the company's chance to prove on many, many levels that it is dedicated to these parks, and to maintaining the immersion and theme that people have come to expect. If the back section of Oktoberfest randomly is made into a racing-themed, 21st century autobahn mini-hamlet, I simply don't know what I'll do. German culture is FILLED with superstition and legend. The Black Forest alone is rich with incredible springboards for a roller coaster theme, many of which have been discussed here. It would be an insult to the culture and the park that we know and love if a highway became the star attraction of the country.

I know the autobahn theme is modern europe not 18th century like the park is themed. there are plenty of other themes they could have gone with.

Summary of what was revealed at the James City County Planning Commission:
1. Coaster Height Waver for 95ft above grade (about 55ft above sea level)
2. 26,000 square foot show building
3. Some Big Bad Wolf footers will be reused
4. Launches take place indoors to reduce noise
5. Busch Gardens conducted a sound study and showed that the maximum noise at the closest location in Kings Mill will be about 50 decibels max
6. Most of the ride takes place indoors
7. Follows the same path as the Big Bad Wolf coming back to the station
8. Same station reused
9. Most of the ride takes place very close to the ground
10. Application has been approved

If anything here is incorrect, please say something.

So on the Planning Comission thing tonight Larry Jiles (I am not sure how to spell his name), but he said that the ride will launch into the event building, and than on its way back to the station, it will use the same path and some of the same footers as Big Bad Wolf.

I love board meetings. Well we learned at lot tonight about this ride as stated above me. We now know why the footers were left behind from BBW. This has me very excited though. This ride just seems like nothing any of us have seen before.

Also: For anyone who was watching when the map came up it showed the Event Building being in the location behind the bumper cars and the themed bridge somewhere in the location around the BBW station

A satellite image was also presented that had the "themed bridge" located where the final BBW brake section was.

Did anyone happen to get a picture of the satellite image that was given? I saw it, but didn't get to look at it in detail.

When it's archived for "Video on Demand," we should be able to get a screen grab of it.

They'll post the video of the meeting in the next couple days. Even if nobody got it yet, you'll be able to grab it soon.

Wow, this is cool. Did, who saw it, it look like there was enough sq ft in the building to hold a bit of indoor elements as shown by the graphic? What exactly dos the theme bridge look like?

Sorry, I can't wait for them to post the video in arc [Emoticons Removed]

Back on the name thing: I hate all of them, I'd be more pleased with Wild Izzy 2...

...or Revenge of Wild Izzy...

All the graphic shows is a satellite photo of the Germany section of the park with arrows with dots showing the locations of the building and themed bridge.

A DailyPress story about the ride... nothing more than what we know EXCEPT that it says the ride will be in the building for a while in the duration and will be quieter than bbw ever was.
