I thought we were trying to go for full year ops? Another dark ride would just make much more sense if they ride had to go. Evan, an e-ticket attraction doesn't have to be a roller coaster, and with Verbolten they still have a good two years left before it starts to become worn out as new. Plus have you seen the advertising for the park? TERRIBLE! WIth that said I saw 1 billboard by Midlothian for BGW, not one anywhere on I95 coming to or from NC to VA or vice versa. Not one on 64 either. Tis sad when advertisement sucks like crap.

But the park is in need of another e-ticket attraction. And when they do so, they need to not knock down another attraction to do it. Then of course, properly advertise it.

I never said roller coaster.... I said attraction. Which is either a flat, roller coaster, darkride, ect.

The post previous was in favor of a dark ride then your post either reiterates that or claims that an e-ticket attraction is a coaster.

The post was in favor of a dark ride, but there are many other options that the park can go with. But it was never directly ment to say roller coasters. But to think about all the options that are available.

Sorry your post was more or less confusing to me, I think what really messed me up was you used the word "But" in the beginning that made me think you were against the dark ride idea.

I know one of the electronic billboard on 664 advertises Busch Gardens and Water Country. On a side note I think I will miss Pompeii if/when they remove it.

There used to be a billboard five miles from KD, and it was HUGE! Now it's a cracker Barrel billboard. :(

As for Pompeii, I've been to the park 6 times this year; once it was inoperable the whole day. The other times the line has been super short, moreso than I've noticed in years past. I will ride it time to time, but I've often noticed that not all of the special effects are running. Especially what was my favorite part, the flames up above as you pass through to the statue falling area. Disappointment. That said, I'd hate for them to take it out. So many memories of the music being blasted out to the parking lot at the end of the day.

EDIT: Removed reference to Billboards

^ I don't think this ride really counts as a coaster, Washingtonian, but I agree with you. Escape from Pompeii is far above what to expect from a park outside of Orlando/California. I guess I might as well give my input on this thread, now that it has been "re-awoken".

Like I said above, this ride appears like it belongs in a warmer tourist region rather than here. I think it's time to adapt this ride for Virginia. The temperatures are very spotty across the state. That being said, there are newer technologies where they can control water intensity. I love this ride, but I hate to see it sitting there through much of the season; knowing that I won't ride due to temperature.

I have always wanted to see the park renovate the ride via contracting Mack, GMBH. It could be more similar to Journey to Atlantis at SeaWorld Orlando. Another issue this might be able to fix is ride length, since this is an incredibly short ride. My only issue/question is: Would Busch Gardens be able to fit this in given the amount of underground utilities next to the ride? If they could, I would say go for it as long as they can keep the existing show rooms and music. This would be a good dream come true for me.

KD has more coasters than BG does, but BG has better ones by a mile.

Debatable....

Really?

Several years back, KD had a photo shoot that was promoted through Facebook, so I took advantage of it (park was closed until nightfall) and the "prize" was riding Imitator 305 several times in a row. It ended up being 10 times straight. When the park opened, I went for an 11th time to sit in the front (the "talent" got to ride in the front during the day). I simply wasn't that impressed, and the speed the employees were claiming it reached didn't seem like it to me. Sure, the big drop is nice, but I have seen much better coasters elsewhere. I would argue that Man of Steel at Six Flags in Largo is better than this.

I have also skydived, and NOTHING compares to that. Some coasters are flat out too short, that is the biggest issue. Apollo's Chariot is really good though.

Back to the ride in question, it works well when the ride is shut down and used as a Halloween feature.

I never knew soo many people are not impressed, or downright hate this ride. Outside of Orlando it's my favorite water ride.

I can understand the costs of operation to be high though.

I wouldn't exactly say that I hate the idea of the ride itself. I'm personally not a fan out getting wet when I'm at a dry park. I'll go to the water park when I want to get wet. I don't like the Rapids and I rarely ride the flume.

I will say that my feels toward Pompeii are tainted by its storied history that I mentioned in the Project 2017 thread and its massive waste of space. I felt like there was a whole lot of potential to create an entire Pompeii Hamlet, and Zach even drew up plans for what one could have looked like.

But that's just me, I can't speak for anyone else's hate for the ride.

I don't hate the ride, like Shane, I prefer not to walk around in wet clothing. The history does not bother me one bit. Frankly I think it adds to the rides interest.

I don't hate the ride either, but I was more likely to get on it before they installed those awful sprayers.

Honestly, I like how that area looks, especially at CT. The Polar Pathway is my favorite areas, in fact,

I'd like to see it stay for a while, but better maintenance is needed as it seems like some of the effects don't always work. Also, those sprayers at the end do need to go. It would be nice to ride it without getting totally soaked. That's what Roman Rapids is for. Pompeii and log flume should be left so you just get a little wet.
