Well it's my opinion that they're similar and it's that's arguing that they're not. They are both huge wooden coasters, both have great airtime, both can be a little rough, and both opened on the same year.
So that’s a very “high-level” view of them. In that light your opinion makes some sense and that’s fine, it’s also not the way a lot of coaster enthusiasts look at wooden coasters as a lot of us tend to get more detailed with them and their overall design.

I’m not gonna go as far to say it’s overhyped, but I was underwhelmed with Steel Vengeance my first time. I had ridden my first RMC, Twisted Timbers, a few months before and was expecting SV to blow it out of the water, but nothing on SV came close to Twisted’s three consecutive airtime hills.

I’ll second Diamondback. That ride is a snooze fest.

My submission is Hulk. It’s a low-mid tier B&M at best and it’s only noteworthy because of its once-unique launch and the fact that it’s at IOA.

I need to get back to ride Hulk again, but you are spot on that the launch inversion has it quite overrated. But speaking of Uni - Dueling Dragons post dueling and Hargrids are both quite overhyped.

I'll third Diamondback. Admittedly I never got to ride in the back, but my two rides were good, but not great... and I went expecting it to be great.

That out of the way.... you people are going to crucify me. Steel Vengeance is beyond overhyped. It's a soulless, uninspired... self-pastiche comes to mind? Like dear Mr. Shilke was half-asleep when he got word they wanted to go for 200' and just... autopiloted it. The airtime is absolutely there, but contrary to popular thoosie opinion, airtime isn't everything. It's also the only ride I can immediately think of that has inflicted actual pain on me, there's like an underbanked turn before the midcourse that slams you into the side of the train every time. Just not worth all that hype.

wow. this somehow sounds more like me than I do

idk if I'm on board with all the design criticisms but it certainly is an endurance test. rather far removed from the comforting concept of the scenic railway

Very happy to see Magnum not mentioned yet since it seems to have a lot of haters for some reason, but here goes:

Fury is good but way overrated
Skyrush blows
Most coasters whose whole identities are having a super punchy launch (***intamin accelerators***) are bad

Rougarou is better than the latter two

So agree on Steel Vengeance, it's not even top 5 in it's own park to me. The first few elements are fun but then after the midcourse it is just such unnecessary pain and all the fun is lost.
