Well, I can guarantee you it won't be a looping woodie coaster. They're already tried that & got shut down real quick...Like quicker than Drachen Fire did.

Let's just get a awesome woodie in like Colossus at Magic Mountain in CA in here or something like that. There's a reason woodies like that have an almost cult-like following vs woodies like the Hurler at KD. If we're gonna get one in BGW, let's do it RIGHT. No gimmicks that'll screw up the whole thing. Chain-lift hill is the cheapest & most reliable way to do it. No mag-lev launch, unless they can guarantee 95% uptime on the ride.

There's no denying that Busch Gardens likes their "firsts" though. I doubt we'll see anything that doesn't break some record.

So basically it all goes back to the OP's original statement. What most of all us want is a woodie ride. If it's first you want, I recommend we ask them to traverse the "river" with it. There aren't any other coasters except for Nessie that I'm aware of that do this & certainly no woodies that do. That'd be a first, right Zach?

Well technically the Rhine "River" is a lake and there are plenty of woodies that cross lakes. Great American Scream Machine at Six Flags Over Georgia comes to mind. First to cross a river wouldn't really be a very marketable element either if we're completely honest. :p

Bugger.....Well wouldn't just by putting in a woodie at BGW be a "first"? If so, make it a copy of a legendary one!!! I don't think people would mind too much. :)

I'm telling you:

Self-propelled roller coaster. Powering through a corkscrew in the skyward direction, gaining speed the whole time.

(I'm just making things up, but maybe it'll work)

There is nothing awesome about that coaster. I rode it not too long ago it was so dull and boring. RMC needs to get a hold of it and topper track it.

Some people in the coaster community nicknamed it Colossucks and it truly lives up to that moniker.

I wouldn't call looping wooden coasters a failure yet.

I think everyone here is too caught up on the whole "firsts" thing. It really doesn't matter if the park builds another first. As long as the park can come up with a nice quality attraction that can be enjoyed for years to come (Verbolten, Mach Tower, etc), I'd be perfectly contempt with that.

What about a drop section on a woodie!!! :p
I totally agree netdvn. The whole "first" thing is taking the fun out of roller coasters now adays. Instead of making a quality attraction, they just want to break a record. That really bugs me.

I agree 100%, but that doesn't void the fact that *every* major coaster in the park's history has broken an important, marketable record of some kind.

I hate to say it despite the lifts, but the more I think about it, the more a Euro Fighter would fit the park. It could use something that's an extreme inversion coaster.

I feel like if woodies evolved that far, then the difference between a woodie and a steel coaster would get smaller and smaller until the only difference is the appearance.

How about inverted woodie?

Too much stress on the wood for it to hang upside down. Sitting regular transfer the force throughout the cross-ties and the support beams.

Also, yes to a Euro-Fighter of some sort. If done correctly, they can ride pretty smooth and they can do a lot and also they are quite! Also Gerstlauer is capable to have inversions with lap bars (at least on some) so that can take out all of the head banging that they produce.

What if you did the roller coaster simulator like downtown disney? You could create your own coaster and the ride it there. Just an idea, it's too early for good ideas :p

A Eurofighter probably makes the most sense if they wanted to fit it into a small space (which is what they've got really, without removing anything else).

With that being said, I would not be happy at all if BGW got something like the Smiler. That looks like absolute hell to me. I can, however, imagine many people (besides my B&M-hyper-loving self ;))wanting to ride it, so I can see your point about an extreme inversion coaster.

A ride like the Smiler will take out a lot of trees no matter where it's placed. The trees are arguably what make the rides at BGW because of the changes in sensations they create, and plopping a ride down in the open would really ruin the ambiance of the hamlet it's placed in (unless it replaces Griffon, of course).

Gerstlauer has built their rides in wooded areas, and albeit they don't have 7+ inversions they're still pretty decent rides themselves. I mean look at Falcon, Untamed, and even Anubis.

How about an indoor dark boat-type ride like V-12 Enter the Engine at Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi? Think Verbolten but on water....That's what it's like I've been told. I'll find out for myself next month. :)

Water doesn't give you the flexibility in a darkride that a tracked or trackless system does. Pompeii technically counts as a water darkride anyway- no real need for another.
