RE: Mäch Tower

I will be there on Tuesday! From all the good reviews I might have to eat my words saying that this will be a lame drop tower....

RE: Mäch Tower

Mach Failure. Just wasted 45 minutes of my life waiting in line for a sub par attraction.

Then again, maybe not.

RE: Mäch Tower

IMO the view is nothing that cannot be seen from the top of griffon. I went in with low expectations but wow.

RE: Mäch Tower

Getting a view from coasters is kind of restrictive as in you're pointed in one direction, especially with Griffon because the angle going up is so steep. At least with it rotating you can view more of the park.

So I got into a conversation with one of the guys who works the games in Germany and he told me the who story of what happened to the Mach Tower, he told me he was working the day that it crashed and he got the whole story that it was in fact the shock absorbers that were the problem. Just in case there was any doubt that that was the problem :p

Yeah i got some info on it, there was never a real crash, there this buffering material that got worn off during testing and the train hit the shock absorbers metal on metal since there was no buffering material.

RE: Mäch Tower

I finally got around to riding this thing after it was broken down from about 6:00 to 7:00. And....it was alright. Nothing special in the drop tower world (I highly doubt there are many drop tower enthusiasts out there.), but probably still a good addition to the park.

RE: Mäch Tower

I have to agree that it has a nice niche to fill at the park. It's a flat ride that's a bit more extreme and has a nice view. My hope is that next year the focus will be on the new coaster and the line will be short enough to justify it.

RE: Mäch Tower

Uh the top of griffon the the track essentially does a 180. Best coaster view in the park

It did hit. Do you really think they'll tell a walk up guest it crashed? No.

Multiple sources gave the same account of the impact and carl lums reaction

RE: Mäch Tower

Griffon is undoubtedly the best view of the park and one of the best views of a roller coaster I can think of because of its huge turn. Think about it, you can ride to the top of Griffon to walk around after the park closes because of the view on one of the park's tours, but I seriously doubt they'll have a tour where you can ride an elevator to the top of Mach Tower for the view.

RE: Mäch Tower

Griffon does have a nice view, but I still see Mach Tower being better IMO.

Can anybody confirm/deny the rumor that MT will be open during CT as an Observation tower only?
