RE: Mäch Tower

You don't rotate once you get near the top. You are higher on griffon than you are on Mach tower in reference to how long angles are viewable.

Yea. Life isn't fair. ::makes ADRs for trip number four to Disney for 2011:: I need at least five trips. Blast this unfair life!

RE: Mäch Tower

I rode it multiple times Friday and just let me say this for those of you inclined to be complainers and will want to compare it to DZ at KD. It is 20% shorter. It goes approx. 20% slower on the drop. You do the math. This has been no secret from day one.

I have seen some complaining about how it is not as extreme as KD's tower. Well, duh! If you are a big enough fan to check a board like this, then you should have known better. It is NOT a thrill ride that has a good view as a bonus. It is a scenic attraction that has a little thrill as a bonus. Not a BIG thrill. I think some folks had unreal expectations this whole time.

I think it is a nice addtion to the park. Worth riding for me about as often as Dar Kastle, Pompeii or EitA, (ie - not every time I go, but every so often).

Griffon is undoubtedly the best view of the park and one of the best views of a roller coaster I can think of because of its huge turn. Think about it, you can ride to the top of Griffon to walk around after the park closes because of the view on one of the park's tours, but I seriously doubt they'll have a tour where you can ride an elevator to the top of Mach Tower for the view.

That is debatable. The Brewery belching smoke and steam has always kinda ruined Griffon's view for me. At least at the point where it holds you for the drop. I like MT's view better. Especially when the new coaster gets done. MT will be a cool spot to watch it run it's course.

If you enjoy a large percentage of your feild of vision being taken up by a brewery belching smoke and steam and 18 wheelers being loaded, then I suppose this might be true. Since I don't prefer that view, I'll go with MT. "Undoubtedly." ;)

Mine were actually rather low as I stated.

The height MT stops rotating at GREATLY limits views. Just saying. I mean if you enjoy a great view of trees as you rotate up then I guess MT FTW! The rotation stops so far from the top the views are a crapshoot. A "good" view only comes if you are in an adequate seat facing a decent direction. Those numbers are rather limited. In reality though Griffon and Alpie disrupt any view you might get looking over certain directions.

I will give it to the loading procedure with the colored cards. That BY FAR is the best thing about the attraction.

RE: Mäch Tower

There are four colored squares. The first ride OP has a stack of cards, each with the corresponding colors. The number of cards are equivalent to the number of seats. You tell him how many are in your party, you get a card, stand on the square. The seats have the same color as your card above them. It keeps what happens on the swings to pretty not happening on MT. Your seats are essentially assigned so groups are not scattered.

I do fully commend Busch on that procedure. It allows the loading to be rather efficient and smooth.

Sorry for the edit. I thought my first response was a bit too snarky, so I tempered it. Personally I like looking down on the rides. Loch Ness looks cool from up there. Looking down the Rhine is great. It was a little better after dark too. The New coaster I think will look cool from there. I'll bet they end up going with 2 zones eventually. The ops said they had several different plans for loading that they will be testing out in the weeks to come and then management will decide which one to go with. I'll bet they ditch the cards eventually too. Once you loose one, or somebody walks off with one, you have problems. I like the numbered dots on the pavement system Dorney Park uses for their tower. I wonder if they'll give that a try.

You're good. I am sure you have seen some of my replies

THAT is something that I could see redeeming it for me. The views just don't do it for me right now. Like I said though it stops rotating not long after the trees and if you are facing towards Alpie all the way over to Apollo then you are pretty much jipped on a good perspective. If you are not in the range then you look at steel.

I prefer riding Griffon and looking strait over at a drop tower full of people at nearly the same height. THAT is a cool view.

RE: Mäch Tower

I do wish they would add a sound track that coordinated with the rise, rumble and drop. Morey's piers has a tiny little 150 ft Drop tower that has three different sound tracks that sync up to the ride cycle. Little audio skits that tell a short story as you ride. 2 are funny and one is serious. It is kinda neat and promotes rerides when you are trying to get the soundtrack you like best.

RE: Mäch Tower

I am sure you can actually hear their audio. Unless you know to listen for it on the ride then you would think the sound is echoing up from the area since it is the EXACT same.

RE: Mäch Tower

I just rode Mach tower last night for the first time... It was so cool! I was on the second to last ride, so I couldn't see much, but the park did look cool with the lights.

RE: Mäch Tower

Just rode it, they make a real attempt to create a different type of drop tower, but fail with crappy vibration and musical syncing. Not really worth riding if there's a line.

RE: Mäch Tower

I never thought that a 15+ minute line for a drop tower is worth it... I waited 20 min for mt because it was new and the park was closing in 10 min

RE: Mäch Tower

I usually only ride drop towers if they're a walk-on, except ToT, which is a blast. If you've ridden one standard drop tower, the only difference in another is just height, which really isn't a substantial difference unless you're going from 100 ft to 300 ft, or something of that nature. Even vibrating seats aren't really a big sell for me for a drop tower, but I don't think there was much the park could do with a standard pole drop tower that I would have enjoyed.

RE: Mäch Tower

Maybe they should hire some pole dancers in skimpy Dirndl dresses for Mach Tower.

Das ist gut!!!!

RE: Mäch Tower

Am I the only one who thinks that MT could be improved if they fixed the music and somehow improved the vibration to make it feel more like something's "gone wrong"?

Yeah i got some info on it, there was never a real crash, there this buffering material that got worn off during testing and the train hit the shock absorbers metal on metal since there was no buffering material.

It did hit. Do you really think they'll tell a walk up guest it crashed? No.

Multiple sources gave the same account of the impact and carl lums reaction

Thank you, thats just what i was told i do belive that it did crash and thats just a way no to provide panic since it was supposed to open the next day.

If the vibrating on Mach Tower felt like the earthquake we just had, it would scare the crap out of me. :p
