RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

My daughter says that most all live performances have some pitch errors. However, at BG, she says Celtic fire as well as gloria and miracles at Christmastown are mostly on key. While entwined and deck the halls are more hit and miss, she says there is a big drop off between them and LR. However, It should be noted that the LR songs are much more difficult to sing than those in deck the halls and entwined.

Even when you go to a concert with the orginal bands they hit off notes from time to time but it doesn't effect the show! I think they do a great job in LR.......

Mod Edit: Minor grammar fixes.

I don't know if other people are hearing this but, I've *heard* that guest satisfaction is so low with LR, that they are re-thinking if it is worth bringing back next year. Despite this, I wouldn't get my hopes up, LR will most likely come back next year.

The thing is guest satisfaction is that low. I don't event think there has been an improvement since the most recent changes to the show.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

Does anyone know how LR's guest satisfaction numbers actually compare to Entwined?

"...it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff." ;)

Is that Edina from AbFab? Where's Patsy? Now that would be a fun London Rocks... [ducking for cover]

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

Something has been bothering me for the past week so I think i'll just mention it to get it off my chest. There is 1 worker in the globe that is very mean and is also very obviously racist. I did not complain to the park and maybe I should have, but here is what happened. My Gals and I were sitting in the last available row in the back not roped off, and this 'person' walked down the row behind us and shined a flashlight on the heads of the family of 6 black folks sitting in front of us and said "you have to move down to make room for others to sit". The family stated that they were saving the seats for the rest of their group. The worker said 'I said you need to move down to make room". The family just sat there and just when I was about to ask the worker to leave them alone, the rest of their group filled the in-between seats. She left. I tapped on the shoulder of the lady in front of us and said "she just rudely told you guys to move down right?" She said yes. I then pointed to my right, where there were 7-10 empty seats between us and the next group. The lady turned back to me and I said "She didn't say jack sh*t to us". This type of person has no business working with the general public and I hope that the racial profiling that went on that day was reported by the family that I made aware of it. (The theater was only half full with random empty seats everywhere.)

I agree that the worker was horribly rude and should probably be reprimanded for that alone, but there wasn't anything to substantiate blatant racism. I'm not saying she is or isn't racist, but maybe she was having a bad day. I could be wrong but I believe the ushers are supposed to encourage everyone to move to the center. The reason that she didn't ask your group to move could be any number of things.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

I obviously don't know what happened in that particular incident, but I have seen some pretty bad behavior from the staff myself. This even includes several supervisors. Almost every time I go in, I feel way less than welcome. Most of it has to do with the messed-up protocol they have to follow. Also, realize that with this show being brand new (plus the negative reception), anyone with authority is really cracking down on everyone that works in there. After Friday, I decided that I may avoid the Globe Theatre for the remainder of the show's season. The vibe in there is totally dead to me. One may compare it to an oppressive dictatorship. I don't think I will be back until they all "throw the towel in." -Very sad.

When I saw it Saturday, one of the Ushers was super Nice and Informative, but she seemed temporary, I think she was only there to manage the surveys. The rest of the ushers were very mean. One was yelling to go to the front of the theatre, and not one of them was smiling. I also understand they are probably being lexured about what they're supposed to do again and again, and they probably are being told frequently about an overwhelming amount of rule changes. It's definitely not their fault, that they are being watched by hawks and managed by a corrupt, and communistic Entertainment Department.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

Well here is my thoughts of LR since the redo of the show.
I like the changes they help the show to flow better than the very first show. The first scene with Lucy and the business people is ok. The bedroom scene much better with the conversation between Lucy and her mum. Scene at the record store more true boy meets girl story for Lucy and Guy, A big improvement. Wedding and reception scene like the changes ever so slight. The birth announcement is a bit tacky but helps with the flow of the show. The puppet scene not much change until the voice over of the dad announcing about aquarium could have been done little better. But it works. Most dads I know start with warning before yelling and stopping short. Aquarium scene same no real changes. Kids teen scene like the new entry point for parents and kids the rest of scene fits better like a early to mid 80's family life. Last scene is ok but the concert announcement could have been done better.

Over all a great improvement.

Friday 2:00 p.m. they were fine. Saturday 4:30 p.m. and Sunday 5:30 p.m. they were not so friendly. Guess SG trying to force in as many as they can with fewer shows to save the $$$.

The ushers obviously have their orders to have people move down and to the center of the rows, filling the front of the theater first.
However, my favorite spot is in the very back. Several times I have asked to sit in the back rows and each hostess has been gracious enough to help me get my prefered seat. I usually have to patiently wait a few minutes but they haven't forgotten.
Just wanted to take a second to thank those ushers for going the extra mile. It would have been easier to tell me to live with the seat I got.
And if anyone from the park reads this, the beer sold in the lobby is warm. This has happened to me at least twice.

We had an unpleasant experience with an usher, as well. It put a bad taste in my mouth for the entire show, to be honest.

I have encountered many firm ushers at various theaters, and I have no problem with any of them. There is a distinction between "assertive" and "rude."

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

My saving grace in Britain and Europe is that somehow people never think I am American. Weird, but awesome.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

Rude behaivor is not limited to the ushers. I expereinced what amounted to humiliation on the Alpie once. It seems that some of the folks working the ride, do not believe that folks who are bigger in stature should come out in public.
