While visiting last Friday, I noticed plumes of spray around the area of the small mid-course drop. I stopped on the bridge and watched 4 people in full body respirator suits working on this area of the ride. I haven't ridden this since the 90's and I'm really looking forward to going for a spin on it. There were still lots of leaves in the chute and the braking mechanisms were still missing.(took notice of this from some pictures elsewhere on the site) Do any of you have new information on when the ride may open? Or info on what maintenance remains to be performed?

At the risk of upsetting a lot of people, I am going to provide an example of why I have never believed the theming during the AB period was beyond reproach. I think there is way too much "good old days" thinking going on.

At any rate, I imagine many people here are too young to remember, but there used to be a sign before the final drop on the flume that said something the effect of "You are about to take the Nestea Plunge." It tied in with a Nestea Plunge TV campaign. I challenge y'all to find a logical connection between Nestea and either Europe or Canada.

I'm sure it was logical marketing, but it was hardly good theming, especially by the standards I see expressed on this forum.

(I am not opposed to the Nestea Plunge sign, I am merely pointing it out.)

For reference here is one of the commercials:

I think it's a fairly commonly held belief that AB was far from perfect. I can point to countless blunders and missteps from the AB days (countless). People who loved the park back then actually get on me all the time about being so cynical about things like Pirates 4D, Festa Italia, Griffon, etc. I know, in my case at least, I'm far from an AB loyalist. No matter the company behind it, anyone who put that sign up on Le Scoot would have been harshly admonished by me.

I hold the park to a higher standard that it has ever previously hit. Why? Because I don't think a place like Busch Gardens should stagnate- it must improve. As long as that trajectory is in an upward direction- no matter the starting position of that climb- I'll be out with pom poms cheering the park on (see Kings Dominion). That said, a downward trajectory, again, regardless of its starting position, deserves ridicule and that's what I'll give it.

I've been told that from what it appears, they are finishing up whatever work they were working on and are probably trying to open it very soon, possibly in time for Spring Break.

It looks like right now, just the supports. I want to say last weekend it looked like they were painting the inside of the trough.

Here are some more pictures of the work being done looks like it might open soon.

They must of painted at least some parts because when I last saw it the drop had areas of flume that had looked to have been replaced, and were unpainted, so I bet it got painted in a few areas at least.

Note that they painted the area under the drop and lift brown vs the white that it was previously.

Don't know how I feel about that...
